the 8th is our undoing again. Its clear he really only trusts 4 pitchers at this point.

its almost impossible to tell if a baseball coach is doing a bad job until they have put together a 3-4 year body of work.

Unless Cohen could get Cliff Wren, Ed Easley, and Weatherford some eligibility, I don't know what more he could've done.

Its difficult for a coach to cost a team a single weekend or game.

We have some on here that just don't get it. He can't turn water into wine. I think we're starting to see some on here that were closet Polk apologists the whole time.

just watching Crosswhite giving up hit after hit, I didn't know if it was time to pull him. But then Houston comes in and you saw what happened.

so I agreed with the move. Doesn't make it right.

The last thing Im going to do is put Devin Jones, Greg Houston or Jared Wesson in in that situation. And sadly those are the only names I can think of that should be given consideration. Ricky Bowen has really screwed his whole thing up. Maybe that's coaching if we want to go that route. But inthat situations, Im going to go with the senior that's pitched in a super regional and has been excellent out of the bullpen this year.

I questioned Cohen using Crosswhite in game 2 against S. Car. with a large lead and not saving him for game 3 which was a much closer game. Well, we see how well that worked out today.

Despite sounding like a crazy old man "That's baseball".

...if Sly Croom can win 7 games plus a bowl game with 3 SEC caliber players, Cohen should be able to nut it up & get something done with these players.

If Rick Stansbury can win the SECT will one legit SEC caliber player, Cohen should also get it done with his scrubs.

I'm sick of the way this board keeps blaming this year's woes on Polk.

Guess what? Polk is gone. All the losing now falls on Cohen's head.

It's time this board stops breast feeding Cohen & begins to demand he wins some games.

So would our one SEC caliber player be the defensive player of the year, the one that made the SEC All-Freshman team, the one that sealed the SEC Tourney championship for us, or the one that briefly led the nation in 3 pt%? For you to claim Stansbury has one SEC caliber player is laughable and about as dumb as some of the **** KB34 spews constantly during basketball season.

Yes, some of this falls on Cohen, but if you look at the bigger picture, the struggle and losses that Cohen has this year are largely due to the condition of the program Polk left behind. I'm not for absolving blame for Cohen this year, but the fact is he'll be handled with kid gloves for his first couple years due to the situation he came into just like Croom was. Many on here gave Croom a pass his first couple seasons, and Cohen should be granted the same grace period.

but I think one thing we must not do is become such big defenders of Cohen that we can't criticize individual coaching moves he makes during the course of the game without being bombarded with ten posts about how bad Polk left the program.

Cohen will win here given time, but that doesn't mean every move he makes will be perfect. I think he made a bad move by using up Moore last weekend with the big lead. I think he left Crosswhite in too long today.

He is going to make mistakes and I think he made one today. It is no big deal. Once he has all of his players here, I feel certain he would have yanked Crosswhite. Regardless, Crosswhite should have been yanked anyway because it was clear he had lost his effectiveness. A new pitcher would have likely yielded the same result, but at least that outcome would not have been predetermined.

when you were talking about Bowen. I've heard Cohen say that we need Ricky Bowen to have a good season for us to be successful. Unfortunately, it looks like Cohen was right.

I think everyone knew that Crosswhite was done, but the problem is we're so thin as fr as bullpen depth, do you go with your best guy struggling or throw a rag arm out there?

We were screwed no matter what.

If I were Cohen, I actually would give Devin Jones a look at part time closer with Crosswhite. I really can't see Jones being a starter- he has a good fastball, and that's about it. He can't throw his breaking ball consistently for strikes yet. But he throws harder than most anyone else on the team, and he typically about two innings anyway. At this point it won't hurt anything.
