this morning. I really want Croom to become complimentary of State. I want him to be appreciative of the opportunity he was given even though it didn't end the way we all wanted. This seems like a step in the right direction.

<span class="storybody">Q: Have you had a chance to talk to Coach Croom yet? "Yes, I did. I called him to compliment him on the great situation that he left me in coming here. We did have a chance to visit, and I'm looking forward when I do get a couple of minutes to breath to spend some time with him and just go through a lot of the things, where he felt everything was here and the direction and advice he would have for me of how we can lead things into the future."</span>

left were that good or not. If Mullen can win 7 games next season i'll believe he left us in good shape.

I don't think I'd have the guts to chat up the man I just replaced about the job he just got run out of.

and I had nothing to share with the replacement. As far as I was concerned he and the company could kiss my ***. Of course, if they were paying me 3 mil I would talk with anyone they wanted me to. Money has the ability to change my mind on a lot of different situations.

i just don't think that croom will say much that is good considering he was run off by the new administration and not given the unbelievable amount of time to build a winner that was promised to him by the previous administration. you are right though, it would be better if he talked good about the university.

who for the first few years here constantly poor mouthed how terrible everything was left to him so to, IMO, keep fan expectations as low as possible. Now, granted the situaion was not rosy when Croom got here, but I personally don't believe it was nearly as bad as the belly aching was making it out to be. On the other hand, based on what I know of our roster at this point, Mullen may be putting too much of a positive spin on things based on that comment today. Attitude and work ethic problems may have been somewhat corrected under Croom, but overall talent level hasn't been.

Jackie must have heard or had it relayed to him. Because Jackie was a regualr guest on Lapides (Memphis sport talk...and ***) show around that time. Jackie mentioned on a few occassions that Croom had talent and was trying to do something (offense..."track meet mumble mumble) that would not work at State. If I remember right. Jackie was a Monday morning guest and would give his take on the weekend games.

That's correct. I think Jackie got a little tired of the constant "program in shambles no SEC talent disarray no discipline can't win yet" talk by Croom and finally started publicly giving his opinion.

On that note, it is awful telling to me that the moment that Croom started talking about finally having SEC-caliber talent to compete was the year of easily his worst on-the-field job.
