Only 2 of the 9 regulars are still playing baseball: Kamren James (AA Montgomery) and Logan Tanner (A Dayton). There are still several pitchers playing: Bednar, Sims, McLeod, Johnson, Harding, Fristoe and Cerentola are all still on a minor league team. Nobody on that team has made it to The Show yet. Ironically, Cerantola may have the best shot to be the first.

Brayland Skinner is playing for the Mississippi Mud Monsters. Yeah, I know its independent ball, but he's still living the dream.

It's hard to believe that Tanner Allen struggled as much as he did in the minors. I thought he would hit better in the minors than he did, even if he never made it to the show.

Rowdey led the charge just 5 days ago. Makes you wonder what happened for this to happen.

Cade Smith is in rehab, should be back soon, he had been promoted to Yankees AA.

What's up with Bednar and Sims? Thought they would be further along .... Kumar Rocker and Leiter are in majors with Texas Rangers.

The issues TA had seem to have been related to bat speed / power. He did not ever adjust well to a wood bat, and wasn’t the biggest masher to begin with even in college with the aluminum bat. A lot of folks remember him hitting some super clutch HR’s for us (Vandy super regional, UVA game in 2021), and I think that creates a false perception that he was just regularly hitting bombs, which couldn’t be further from the truth. In 4 years and 210 games, he only hit 23 home runs, total. For comparison, Reese hit 21 just this year. And Hines hit what, 60 something in his career?

If you look at his minor league stats, his K rate and BB rate were about the same as they were in college. He didn’t swing and miss any more than he ever did, and he wasn’t being fooled by pitches out of the zone. He just couldn’t hit it nearly as hard in the minors as he did in college. And he wasn’t ever a plus defender, so there just wasn’t much of a place for him.

There’s a lot of criticism around the stuff related to exit velocity and launch angle and stuff like that….and I’m certainly one that’s found it to be misleading for certain types of players. But TA is the exact type of player that shows why it is needed for a lot of players. The aluminum to wood bat transition is pretty difficult to predict just about any other way.

Part of it has to be this. He knows his chances in the majors. He might could get there, but probably not for very long. What not everybody here knows is Rowdy Jordan's dad has a very successful homebuilding business. It will someday be Rowdy's to run. He stands to make far more money for his family learning the business from his dad than he would make if he made the league.

Yeah both were really good college players, but not pro players. They are good enough to be drafted as juniors, which is why they appeared to elite as seniors. Those type guys don’t normally come back for 4th years in college.

I did think TA had the potential to be like Frazier, who could just hit, period. Not always easy to project.

We don't win Game 1 against Notre Dame without Rowdey.

According to Coach Link, they lost because of our grass.

That reminds me of what Tubberville said about losing to State when he was corching at Auburn. It was either the grass or they were wearing the wrong cleats according to him...see where he's still lying and making up stories nowadays.

I refuse to read anything you type until you release the bouncers of your old avatar!**
