is this the first time at State we have had open practices? I'm pretty certain Croom never did this, he was probably too paranoid someone from another team would come and try to figure out his difficult offense.

"probably to paranoid"

He was paranoid. In fact, he made remarks about it constantly. Even his first spring game he announced to the crowd we wouldn't show our whole playbook because there were spies in the crowd. What a load of ****.

Mullen's spring will probably consist of a bunch of conditioning and strength training, fundamental teaching of football, and the fundamental teaching of the new offensive and defensive philosophies -- and through all this, a very thorough evaluation of talent and position strengths.

It's just me, but I don't see the players putting alot of technical X's and O's out of a book into memory this spring. But I do expect them to work very hard on their bodies and on the fundamentals.

the first time we line up in a formation and I say to myself, "I have no idea what we're about to run."

During the SEC title game this year, the announcers were talking about how the Bama defensive captains were wearing armbands to help them figure out what defense to be in. They said that Bama's defensive coordinator said that Florida ran 4 completely different offenses and that he didn't see how they were able to get that much taught to their offensive players. Our players are going to have a lot of X's and O's to learn.
