Just talked to former AU coach Sonny Smith------

here in Bham for a few minutes.
I saw him and asked if he was going down tonight to see the Dawgs beat Auburn in the old gym.
He said I'm afraid you areright about that.
Told him I was worried that we may actually not win this game due to au's hot 3 pt shooting lately,last game etc. He said we had one big element that they didnt have and that was a big man in the paint.
Said he liked Rick a lot, thought he was a heck of a coach and that with the NCAA Trnm on the line, thought we would be ready and win the game. Also said if we didnt win tonight, thought our chances were very slim of getting in.
One thing that stood out to him was the play of Bost, really likes him, although he did comment on his erratic play and turnovers at times...also amazed him that when our 3's arent dropping --its from everyone, not just 1 player or 2.
Nice guy, very personable.
Said after the game they were going to do some special recognition things etc. -----one is the first AU player to ever make a shot in the old gym is going to take the last one from the same spot he made it. Laughed and said he hoped the old guy --now76 would be able to make it.

of course we have the ultimate academy league coaches on this board who would get their asses run out of a gym against decent competition where they had to defend more than one player. Heck, Brady, Gottfried, Trent Tucker, Andy Kennedy, Darren Horn,any mid major coach who've they have never seen, are all better than Stans. Don't like the way he coaches, talks, lets his kids experience his work, yep, we have some real winners on this board.
