Edgy, You are the Benevolent Dictator that this group needs.

FYI it truly sucks that you cannot access the site internationally

Yes you can! I was in China last year and had access via cell phone data and at certain hotels Wi-Fi that had more “freedom” (yes many sites including google are blocked in China - but if your phone is not from China they have difficulty blocking your access).

I could also stream the HS football games on Saturday morning!! Where their is a will - there is a way!!

Edgy for all the help you have given countless high school football players, they and their families will never forget, and will be grateful for the rest of their lives for the opportunities that you were able to give to them.

Just out of curiosity, do other states have something similar to what Edgy provides? I would think high school football beds like CA, TX, FL etc would. Anyone have intel on this?
If they don’t then their loss! Thanks Edgy, great stuff! When I retire in 2 years I’d love to come work for you as a beat reporter.

No dice in PA, perhaps Edgy can pick up a new market. The split between eastern and western PA makes it tough, there is a split free site similar to Edgytim, but nothing as complete as what Edgy has done with his site. There have been a few attempts on Rivals for PApreps but the truly successful Rivals page in PA is Penn States BWI page by Phil. I think because of the strong college presence here and the vacuum of a college presence in IL may be a factor.

Interesting. I find that most states have their team. Iowan's, Wisconsinites, Minnesotan's, Buckeyes, Huskers. Illinois does not have that pride that those states do in their top university.

Does most of Pennsylvania support Penn State or is their some love for Pitt athletics as well? Not that those are the only schools in Pennsylvania but maybe the most well known. Villanova is big too...

I would say from first hand experience outside of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia Penn State is as followed as an NFL team. Even in those cities it has at least a 50% fan base. Pitt, Temple and Notre Dame are the programs that are next best represented. There is obviously deep and rich HS football tradition, but unlike the drop-off from the Chicago area to the rest of IL PA has three very strong and different regions. They could have a site that supports each with a strong following easily.

Coondog,

I think the critical word is “could” support it. I agree that the WPIAL, Catholic, and District3 District 11 each could support the edgy level discussion but for some reason just has not caught on like edgy does in Illinois. It could also be that the media outlets, TV and print, still have a strong presence with things Friday night that run in District 3 and 11 like the “Big Ticket”. The Big Ticket runs for 2 hours Friday night from 10-midnight. I’m certain Philly and Pittsburgh have similar or better.

Speaking of WPIAL -Chicagoland could take some notes from the old John Fedko broadcasts on Friday night in Pittsburgh.

Thanks all.

It can be a pain in the a$$ at times and it can be a huge hassle and time consuming to run/maintain this thing....yet on most days this is still the best and most interesting place for IHSA football talk because of the 95 percent who don't piss me off.

So thanks
Thanks Edgy!!!
