I just don’t understand this. Why Louisville? Because of his grandpa? His dad played at Memphis? Why not them? His coach that has known and recruited him since birth is at UK? I’m just not seeing UL, not to mention sanctions. The tourney is when kids show out and improve or not, their stock.

We just had a kid not play a minute and will get drafted. College basketball is no longer the proving ground and the tournament means nothing to anyone but the fans and players. The days of old are no longer relevant unfortunately.

I get that stance but that’s literally 1 example of thousands of players. Ya know? Although, I don’t like the direction it’s going so your point is very relevant.

And how many guys including DJ Wagner are 6'6 with near 50 inch verticals who can shoot the ball? There's a difference being an exception to a rule and assuming this happens. Not to mention Calipari literally knows everyone involved in this recruiting process at a level (including the Louisville Coaches) for decades.

He's a soon to be 56 yr old 1st yr HC who should've already been hired by someone and he's got limited time to make an impact. This is what you have to do. He still has NCAA Sanctions hanging over the program, and you only get one chance to make a 1st impression. I mean Cal hired Milt to work on his staff and took Dajuan's best friend Arthur Barclay to make sure he ended up at Memphis. When you are in a world where everyone has to find an edge/advantage, you have to do what you have to do.

Hes gonna play 1 season regardless whom he plays for.If its Louisville,he can enjoy that season and post season ban.We have nothing to prove to him.He knows all about UK and Cal.He knows we want him but we shouldnt have to wait on him either.

That ship has sailed with today's players. NBA is all that matters. Just gotta get paid before they can get to the league.......win, lose, or even play .....or not.

These kids no longer have to play for the big program or in the tournament for that matter to be selected in the lottery. The draft is about potential, not so much about what you did in college.

These things change. Recruiting is always fluid and the options for players are endless. With NIL, even more so. There are no locks anymore. Blood is thicker than water in this case.

I'm referring to the fact that someone said there's nothing keeping Wagner from sitting out should he come in --or any recruit. That's the point I was referring to.

We don’t have many ex players come around the program like they did at the beginning of Cal’s tenure. UK is barely in the news from a positive marketing perspective. What Cal built in the first 5 has completely diminished over the last 5.

I see a lot of them at games when they get a chance. Julius Randle literally was shown being at the basketball facility yesterday.

It's not Cal's fault that he couldn't round up AARP members of UK alumni to attend a HS AAU Event in Louisville. Hell Lance Ware is there tonight and he's one of DJ Wagner's friends. If he's there, I'd assume Kareem Watkins is likely there too.

If a guy who had 2 good years in the NBA 30 years ago on an atrocious Washington Bullets team is enough to sway him, then Cal really has lost his touch.

The level of publicity and "evaluation" of the top ranked high school players that happens now makes your statement pretty much dead on, I think.

Pervis is Wagner's God Father and coaches his AAU team. Probably closer than anyone, including Cal and Milt, to this kid.

PE is not just some random ex-Card dude. He will have a big influence on where Wagner goes to school.....or not.

Partly true. But tyty went from top 10 to just hoping to be in the back end of the lottery with how he played to close the year. Same BJ Boston. Or you have SGA who wasn't on anyone's radar then went lotto bc of how he played in season.
