It talked about him giving gang members his cell numbers, and he tries to motivate them to get out of their current situation... Sometimes, he offers them scholarships to play football, but not all the time. Anyway, made me gain some respect for the man.

Still hate USC with a raging passion, though. Someone needed to tell Croom that there is more than one kind of character. You don't just have to go recruit kids from a solid Christian background, but why not go into places like this an try to turn a crappy life around for the better? Anyway, I just found the whole thing interesting.

Now, on to the Cowboys game...

Yep, Carroll is really an amazing person. His energy rubs rival fans the wrong way, but he's really an unbelievable person all around. He's not your average, polished football coach. He's a little bit odd, but it works for him...obviously.

Saw that too....and I'm with you. Going down in South Central at 1AM every week and talking to kids and gang members, and trying to get tem to get out of the violent situation, takes some guts.

and tried to make something of them rather than taking the easy way out and just kicking them to the curb the way Mr. Character did.
