was such a greedy **** when it was so obvious that Wepner was the basis of the story. Stallone made several public statements giving Chuck credit as his inspiration and still went to court in Wepner's home state N.J. He figured it out pretty quickly that he better settle when he saw the "jury of his peers".<div>
</div><div>I got a kick out of Wepner's joke to his wife about the powder blue night gown. He told her I bought this special gift so you could wear it for the heavy weight champion tomorrow night. She had it on when he walked in after the Ali fight and asked Chuck "is he coming down here or do I need to go to his room"?</div>

Stallone should have thrown the guy a bone but I wouldn't go so far as to say that was required.

as hell on something like this but I agree with you, he could have written him a check for 5-10 million without any pain and could have gotten a no sue deal from Wepner in the process. That would have been the right way to handle it. There were too many similarities between Wepner's life and the Rocky movies to just dismiss his claims. He deserved a bone.
