Maybe, maybe not. I don’t see how you go from basically quitting the team to 2nd string at the drop of a hat. But we’ll see. We may be redshirting KT and keeping Shrader as #2 for all we know.

I saw nothing in the Spring Game to indicate that Shrader wasn’t capable of passing KT after a full Fall camp to get up to speed. I also think its a dick move to burn another year of KT’s eligibility before he inevitably transfers in December (unless he is way better than Shrader, which I highly doubt and honestly hope isn’t the case).

But again, we’ll see. Only Moorhead knows who’s better at this point.

He may be able to grad transfer without sitting in December or next May. Remember that he was an EE, so in May he will have been here 3.5 years. Could be any number of things going on. My guess is that he and JoeMo agreed that if he stuck it out through the Fall that Joe would help him find a good landing spot next spring or next summer, and preserve his RS year. I find it hard to believe that he doesn’t want to be a starter though. Barring Shrader being a huge bust or an injury to Stevens or Shrader, its highly unlikely that it happens here.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure saving GS redshirt year is more important than KT redshirting. It would be incredibly stupid not to redshirt GS if possible. Esp if it was in order to redshirt a guy that just got beat out again and will never be our starter barring injury.
