There are those who disagree with your assessment.
It could say he's a left tackle for all I care. His skillset is what dictates his position. What I will readily admit to, if there's a situation where two of Mason Williams, Zoom, and Wilkins can't be on the floor at the same time (injury or foul trouble) then I'd think Kam is the best emergency option. It's sorta like Lynn Bowden playing QB. He was by no means a QB, he just played the position because he was the best available option. In no world will this team be successful with Kam, Hawthorne or Noah getting regular run with only one of Mason Williams, Zoom, or Wilkins on the floor with them. At least not against good teams...More than anything, I'd like to see Kam just get on the court and playing. I think his contributions, wherever they might be, are a key to this team being as good as it can be.

The game has evolved you seem to be old school.

The shooting guard (SG)—also known as the two or the off guard—is, along with the small forward, often referred to as a "wing" because of its use in common positioning tactics. Most shooting guards are best at scoring from the three point line or long-mid range. Before they can get the ball to make the shot, they must work to stay free and clear of defenders while others pass the ball around. Their ability to find open space for themselves is a key aspect of this position. Like all positions, the ability of a shooting guard to communicate efficiently with teammates is of great importance. If teammates do not know when or where a player will be open, they cannot deliver the ball when an opportunity arises. Most of these skills depend on whether the shooting guard is best at shooting, finishing near the rim, defending, or a combination of these.[12]

Throughout the evolution of the game, there have been different types of shooting guards, categorized as offensive threats and defensive guards. Shooting guards usually know their play style and get better at the qualities they are good at over time. Teams use this play style to determine the role of the shooting guard on the court.[12] If the shooting guard focuses more on taking perimeter jump shots, especially three-point shots, by the use of defensive tactics such as screens (and often without much dribbling), then the shooting guard is typically known as a "catch-and-shoot" type of player. Devin Booker fits the catch-and-shoot play style. If the shooting guard emphasizes driving into the lane and scoring at (or around) the basket, then the shooting guard is generally referred to as a "slasher". Dwyane Wade and Michael Jordan were well known for their ability to "slash" into the lane and score around the rim. However, they also had a fair number of mid-range jump shots and three-pointers.[10] These types of shooting guards are known as offensive threats.

Ummmmmmm, just no. Neither are good at it, Hawthorne certainly isn't.
You should sit this one out he already has shown it.He did a cross over move the other night between his legs with defender right on him smooth as silk didn't miss a beat. You can't do that at his size if your skill level isn't on par .

With all the talk about only having 3 guards, why are people not considering Kam Williams in that rotation, is it due to the injury. I personally prefer him playing guard over Hawthorne at guard. Last year he was 36% from 3 and 95% FT.
He dribbles like a poor forward…so thus he is not likely to stick at guard

I think it is all about the line up on the floor so that you don't have to rely on him as being a primary ball handler. On offense he can stretch the defense opening up driving lanes etc.... The key is he CAN guard a guard.

I think were all a little guilty underestimating how much difference he could make when back and fully healthy. He struggled to begin with but was just catching his stride and about to take off when the injury occurred. Now it may be a case where Braydon and Ousmane keep developing to where there's not much room for Kam but if so thats a real good problem to have. But if not I think Kam can be a big contributor.

Kam was interviewed over the summer and asked about playing 2G. While he said he would do whatever the team needed, I gathered from his response that he sees himself as a college 3 or 4.

Post game on Tuesday, Milan acted like he is looking forward to having Kam and Trent on the floor with him at the same time. In that scenario, Noah would likely be the 2G.

Now for heads to explode.

Pretty sure Pope has already stated that Noah’s moving to 2G

How long will it take for Kam to shake the rust off on the foot injury.

Conditioning? Confidence? Ball handling and shooting?

I assume a young guy will be able to get up to speed quickly?
