Just let it go, we won. Good effort from both QBs, Shapen will have it the rest of the way. Hopefully, KT gets some snaps to get him ready for next year.
Snaps this year are meaningless, one way or the other. KT will get ready for next year in spring practice.

I wouldn’t say meaningless bc you can’t replicate SEC game action in practice but I do think he progresses a lot with the majority of snaps in the spring and fall camps.

Said when you’re this raw are meaningless. It’s not like he’s magically going to become a much better qb just because he got a few more snaps. And we’ve got games to win. You can’t waste snaps on a player who isn’t ready.

not one of them was a good pass

the TD was ok and I give him credit but the next 3 were atrocious

I think he’ll get better but the people losing their $h1t over putting Shapen back in are DUMB!
Not perfect passes but the spiral he throws are NICE. And being a legit run threat opens up the secondary for more passing.

I think he’ll be better than relf.

I think he could be very good. But he isn’t there yet.
He looked like Relf at the end of 2008.

but he also looked overly hyped up. Not sure his passes are necessarily a reflection of where his passing ability is right now as much as just him not having time to settle down.

He’s not going to be magically better but I do think seeing playing time makes future practice more effective. maybe a few plays here and there won’t really make a difference, but I think getting to play multiple drives does.
Doesn’t mean you play a qb that’s not ready outside of garbage time. But to the extent you have to play one that’s not ready, that’s a silver lining.

We disagree. But the fact is we’re playing to win this year. Not to get a future qb marginally better for next year.

It’s more of the latter & not understanding the game at this level yet. Physically, he’s got all the tools.

Nice spiral doesn’t mean crap if the ball isn’t even close to the receiver
You are correct, and I remind you in games with less pressure that were not on the road, he threw better balls. He is a freshman, so like most freshman, he will look amazing on one play and not so good on another. Kind of like Arch Manning looks now as a sophomore out there earlier this season throwing wounded ducks to nothing but grass.

I’m not sure what your point is.

my point is clear. If you got all emotional and yelled at the tv and called Lebby dumb for bringing shapen back in you are the dumb one. Not Lebby.

You being the proverbial you.

Yeah I think everyone can agree with that obvious point that Shapen is the starter and much more experienced, but he has glaring weaknesses as well as a 5th year that will not get better, ever. And we can't negate that a freshman QB scored 2 TD's off the bench on the road in the SEC. And ran the ball 5X better than our starting QB. It is clear he has nerves and is not fully ready to run the entire playbook yet. With more touches in SEC games he will have a clearer head and be better. It is REALLY nice to see a QB take a broken play and run for a 25 yard+ TD. Not sure we have seen Shapen do that or will ever see him do that. Never saw that from Rogers. Maybe it is slow QB fatigue from our fanbase while watching other teams have QBs that scramble very well.

I think he should get a handful of snaps each game. Let him run some of his QB draws, then fake the draw and throw one over the top.

You’re not wrong. The TD was a good throw but the others were pretty bad. Shapen makes the occasional bad decision but he can fit tight windows and go over the top effortlessly. That crazy catch that Thompson made in the 4th quarter looked like a bad throw but I think it was a smart experienced QB putting it in a spot where he knew his guy could catch it despite tight coverage.

agree. the quantity of KT's playing time at Arkansas was about right for remaining of THIS year. We need him to play a few series to keep defense honest. But Shapen is needed to stretch the field with his passing game.

He’s 65% and 150 plus rating.
He’s probably the best qb we’ve ever had at throwing deep balls.
He’s far and away the best qb on this team RIGHT NOW. It’s not even close.

The TD wasn’t really a “good” throw. The guy was wide open and he made the throw so I give him credit. At best it was an ok throw.

Agreed but with the closing speed of linebackers, linemen and secondary, as a defense, I don't even keep an eye on him at all because I know anyone on the field can catch him in 1.5 seconds. But for passing yes, when he does not hold the ball and take a 12 yard sack and when he does not run the ball, he is our #1 passing QB.
