I think it was a money game but Louisville missed on everyone, they come back pay him more than Boise. Similar to the WR from Nebraska.

It was an actually a female that kept him here. Didn’t want to leave his girlfriend and have a long distance relationship.

Ugh! Not the answer I was expecting. You pick a college first for the academics they offer. Why? Because you're only an injury away from your athletic career ending but you will always have an education. 2nd, if you're an athlete, you pick the school because the HC believes in you and has your back. This is also a risk because as we all know, coaches can come and go. Last on the list is because of a girlfriend or boyfriend because relationships are so fragile especially at that age. If two people are committed to each other, they make the relationship work, no matter the location.
I really don’t think most athletes pick a University where their biggest concern is their education. That is why the transfer portal is so active. I actually think most think they can make it to the next level. When Hugh Freese was coach of Ole Miss he was getting recruits by giving the athletes girlfriends scholarships.
Just remember that less than 2% of all athletes become professional.... That is why NIL has become such a big deal.
I agree that less than 2% of athletes make it to the next level. Unfortunately I think there are quite a number of athletes choose a University based on their athletics and not academics. That is why you have so many transfers they want more playing time to prove themselves hoping to make it to the next level.
And…it is the lack of guidance and living in reality that results in many failures after college.
