Dude sure isn’t doing Pope any favors. Pope will rue the day he hired him.
This isn't Brown's fault lol He is a "video nerd" an analytics guy who watches tape. He is not a GM with the skills to negotiate with scummy agents. That is Pope's fault for not actually hiring a real GM. Everything, all of it has been a consequence of Pope's incompetence and stubbornness.

His job title is Director of Roster Management.

Specifically, he will be involved with roster construction and player acquisition strategy, including transfer portal evaluation and acquisition strategy, roster planning, scholarship allocation and resource optimization.

“He brings a unique blend of organization, analytics and feel for the game that’s critical to any organization, along with a deep understanding of what it takes to build a roster that can compete at the highest level.”

Right.... again. Pope hired an analytics nerd to be the "GM" because Pope was too stubborn to hire an actual GM. Keegan Brown is probably just as confused and unprepared for what his role actually is. Pope's own procrastination has led to all of this being dumped on Brown at the last minute.

I wonder what the salary is for this “Director of Roster Management” job that never existed before now. Whatever it is, he ain’t yet earning it.

He literally creates “salary cap models”.
Keegan Brown sets the allocation of funds.
Role Focus: Pope indicated Brown would focus on data-driven decision-making, including creating "salary cap models" and "win-share models" to optimize team construction.

Again, I think you're missing the point... Why would Pope hire a video coordinator as the GM in the first place... and all Brown is doing is equating value to a player's analytics, he does NOT have GM negotiating skills. The problem isn't finding and evaluating players, the problem is grabbing the agents by the neck and getting a reasonable deal done, in a reasonable amount of time.

I had no idea Brown's role had been described that way. If that's FR and I have no reason to doubt it then I can only describe it as being technically "so gay."

We need a "get this mofo on campus RN I don't care how you do it!" model ASAP or we should just lie down.

I wouldn't really put anything on Brown at this point. Keegan Brown may be one of the best water bailers on the planet for all I know but boys, we've got a grease fire on our hands.

You don’t “grab agents by the neck” lol. You do that and they walk. Agents dictate the process because they have what we need and know the market. Kentucky’s not the only suitor for these players services and we certainly aren’t the only team that has money. From grok; Billionaire Mike Repole is the "mega booster" transforming St. John’s University basketball, pledging millions to build a "dynasty" alongside coach Rick Pitino. As a co-founder of Vitaminwater and BODYARMOR, Repole heavily funds the school's NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) efforts, driving top transfer recruitment and supporting a revamped team, aiming for long-term NCAA success

Imagine hiring someone to help you put a dumpster fire out, and instead, you both light the building next to the dumpster on fire as well…

That’s Keegan Brown and Mark Pope in a nutshell 😂

The "player acquisition strategy" ain't exactly working out so hot.
It’s working exactly according to how they want to acquire budget picks. They didn’t even get involved with most of the high money players.

terrible strategy by a terrible staff hired by a terrible AD.

AI wrote that garbage. Nothing within our basketball program is top notch. From the staff to the players we are MID at best.
