Unless they are losing then he doesn't post
You again?! Smh. I post when we’re winning or losing. Only time I don’t post is when someone else has already started posting our score. In this case, kwhs95fan had started posting so why would I? I’m not a fair weather fan, I post no matter if we W or L if no one else have posted it. So please cut out the slander. Just to give you a heads up, I won’t be posting the Essex at Surry game next week because I won’t be there. I’ll be attending the Highland Springs vs. Oscar Smith game in Chesapeake next Friday if the weather holds off.

I was there. Essex looked real good (made some early season mistakes but who doesn’t?).

Sussex looked way improved too over last season - good size and speed.

Essex mostly controlled game. Sussex scored on 1st play of game, otherwise may have been a blowout by Essex.

Essex discipline looked good too. Well done. Field looked sharp. It was like 5 photographers there.

Gonna be a wild one in the Neck.

If Essex executes a little better in the red zone who knows what the score might've been. Two big penalties against Essex (encroachment on a 4-and-3 plays and a dead-ball personal foul) helped Sussex on their last scoring drive. I thought Essex did a good job of not letting that early Sussex TD get them down.

First, hats off to both programs on a hard hitting battle. I don't want to take anything from Essex but a blowout was not going to happen. Essex scored after a bad snap(punt) in Sussex territory. Then on a 4th down Essex was gifted a pass interference call that was questionable. Sussex drove the ball throughout the game but killed the drive with turnovers(which happens when running the veer). Several Sussex drives were killed by delay of game penalties. #10 from Sussex made a tackle for loss that wouldve put Essex in a 4th in long situation but he was called for a unsportsmanlike penalty(celebration). That gave Essex new life on one of their scoring drives. Please don't get this post twisted did the right things to deserve the victory..ppl that were at the game understood that this couldve went either way!

The bottom line is Essex scored 6 TDs and converted 3 of 6 2-pt conversions. Sussex scored 3 times and converted all 3 2-pt conversions. Sussex was plus-1 in takeaway-giveaway. Essex committed 2 turnovers in the red zone, while I believe Sussex lost both its fumbles deep in its territory.

I was just making observation on the stats them selves just saying the game looked pretty close
Understood. Here’s a little bit more that the stats don’t show. Sussex saw that Essex could move the ball on them, so why keep giving them a short field to work with by doing onside kicks? Sussex was counting on the turnover bug to hit Essex on those kicks but Essex covered all of them. Rushing and passing yards could of been much more if Essex had to drive the whole length of the field. Guess we’ll never know. Looking for both teams to get much better during the season.

I stated before the game that Sussex would need Essex to be a Turnover Machine to win. No excuses from me that was a solid win for the Trojans

Excellent Point.

It was obvious that the Essex kids were prepared for all the onside kicks (well done).

I am sure that the EHS coaching staff and the QB enjoyed starting a few possessions with like just 48 yards to pay dirt.

Essex Trojan1 is good people. I had the pleasure of meeting him at the GW vs Sussex game a few years back.

Would you rather to give up short field or 6 points on a kickoff return?? LOL trust me if the coverage teams were better...Sussex would kick deep. What team doesn't forward to the other team turning the ball over?? Wishful thinking lol. Let's not lose the fact that Essex deserved the victory(NO EXCUSES)! They have a Quality program...
