This reminds me a bit of John F Kennedy’s speech to the country (June 1963) on civil rights (in the wake of the Alabama crisis). Today, many critics believed JFK “dragged his feet” on civil rights, but at the same time, this speech was something MANY Americans never expected to hear from their President. Pretty ballsy for the times. Was Rupp racist?
In 2023 context, yes
In 1950s context, no. Far from it.
My parents are both lifelong diehards, season ticket holders since the respective openings of Commonwealth Stadium and Rupp Arena. They’ve been alive for all 8 championships but don’t remember the ones prior to 1951.
I’ve asked them both this question about Rupp. Both said Rupp was fairly progressive with race relations for the mentality of his era. The problem was that era was a very racist time in this country in general and most people were at least a little racist without really knowing any better. It’s just “how it was,” which is both pathetic and helps understand the issue contextually.
To me it’s absurd we didn’t let people participate in certain activities based on something as arbitrary as skin color. That’s just moronic to me, but I’m “only” in my 40s. I grew up in an integrated society. Looking at it from back then, it probably would’ve been dangerous to recruit and play black players who had to travel regularly to Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Florida and Tennessee because that part of the country is what it is and was what it was.
9 people did not die that day, and no cop did. When you have to resort to making up things you have lost the discussion.I hate to be this guy but the Cletus brigade smashed in a few windows and entered the capitol that way as well. It was insurrection at worst and the world’s redneckiest temper tantrum at best. I don’t think thise misguided souls had the ability to overthrow the government, but just the fact they thought they could change the outcome of an already decided election by doing whatever that was makes them look kind of dumb.
Also, 9 people died that day, including one police officer. It was more than one person killed.
It’s just easier to say the civil unrest in the summer of 2020 and the civil unrest of Jan. 6, 2021, were both bad looks and shouldn’t be defended or excused.
You are clearly a coward and each successive post proves it.You are CLEARLY a dumba$$
In your world, you might be right, but in the real world they did die. Just so you know, they didn't have to die on that day to be considered a causality of the failed insurrection. If they eventually died as a result of injuries sustained by the actions of all the beavis and buttheads who assaulted them, they were killed by the insurrectionist. It doesn't matter if you agree or not. Lol9 people did not die that day, and no cop did. When you have to resort to making up things you have lost the discussion.

They were too stupid to overthrow the government, but that doesn't change the fact that the idiots tried. The idiots thought Trump would protect them. All he did was laughed at them. All they managed to do was to embarrass themselves and their families. Many of them will eventually spend considerable time in lockup for behavior that was dumb as rocks.exactly you have no argument otherwise, not a single example. When did the government shut down, what realistically happened to impede the government or electoral process? More damage happened in Atlanta last night by 6 Antifa scumbags than on Jan. 6. So until you post anything remotely viable that shows those people did anything to legitimately overthrow the government your argument holds no water.

Brian Sicknicks Stroke was not from the events of the day, abd it sure as hell wasn’t from being beaten with a fire extinguisher.5 Trump supporters died at the Capitol that day. Ashli Babbitt was shot dead by a Capitol policeman. Ben Phillips had a stroke during the fray. Kevin Greeson died of a heart attack during the events. Rosanne Boyland died as well, speculated that she was crushed to death, but it was determined to be a drug overdose.
Officer Brian Sicknick died the next day from a stroke that was determined that the previous day's events contributed to his condition. 4 other Capitol officers committed suicide within 7 months.
Basically, people unnecessarily died attempting to do something that they had a snowball's chance in hell of pulling off. For their troubles, history will chronicle them as seditionist, unpatriotic, and traditors.5 Trump supporters died at the Capitol that day. Ashli Babbitt was shot dead by a Capitol policeman. It doesn't matter how many times you tell a lie it remains a lie even when you have been brainwashed into believing it. However, in this case, those idiots were so stupid that they provided all the video and audio evidence needed to convict them. Lol. Many of them actually stated that they felt like they were being called by their president to take up arms and attack the government to defend him. Lol. The powerful always figure out ways to manipulate, the poor, uneducated, and powerless to perform their dirty work which is exactly what "the Donald" did. Many of the insurrectionist are either in jail or will soon be going while Donald is planning for his next fleecing of America.Same goes to all the rioters from BLM destroying state government property here in TN and other states. The problem is the January 6th people were punished and the rioters of blm were praised.

And that report is wrong, he wasn’t injured during the riot, that’s directly from his texts to his brother that night. TTurns out we’re both wrong. It was 5 people who died that day.
A capitol police officer also died. The cause of death was heart attack, which I’m sure being outnumbered 10-1 by angry idiots had something to do with that.
I have included links from a source you should trust.
They weren’t trying to do anything, much less “ overthrow” the government.
The only thing that happened was the MSM didn’t have to the public evidence of fraud.
Why do you think Harris lied about where she was? She was back up plan at tge DNC with the “ bomb “ threat that was a kitchen timer in broad daylight.
Lol, cult… The election was stolen, Zuckerberg didn’t pay 500 million for the hell of it my man. You’re in a cult, man. Just stop. “Fraud”
Knowing the sheer incompetence of the DNC and the bumbling nature of Joe Biden, y’all really think it’s possible they masterminded a ploy to “StEaL” an election but not also “StEaL” firm control of the Senate and various state races? Those people couldn’t pull off a liquor store robbery without getting caught.
As someone who isn’t invested heavily into political rhetoric, the Dale Gribble conspiracy theories are pretty comical.
Like I told my liberal friends when they went nuts when Hillary lost: take the L, come back in 4 years, try again. If you lose, repeat the process. Crying cheater isn’t going to change anything. Goes for 16 and 20

If you think my post was "nitpicking year and names" then you completely failed at reading comprehension. My post not only corrected you, the information provided directly discredited your entire thesis. We can nitpick years and names, and noted if correct, but I don’t think you addressed my core point here, which was at Kentucky Adolph Rupp lagged behind In the area of segregation. Rupp also faced criticism about this while coach and took part in multiple interviews defending his lack of progress on the issue. Kentucky was the last blue blood program to integrate, was middle of pack in SEC and trailed instate schools. For a program that celebrates high standards and really even celebrates the traditions started by Rupp, this is clearly an issue that did not meet those standard
Each time you repeat your same tired post you prove you are a dumba$$You are clearly a coward and each successive post proves it.
Are you referring to the BLM riots that went on for months, burning and looting HUNDREDS of businesses and homes?Basically, people unnecessarily died attempting to do something that they had a snowball's chance in hell of pulling off. For their troubles, history will chronicle them as seditionist, unpatriotic, and traditors.
I bet no one has ever accused you of sounding intelligent. Lol. You make it so easy. It is like shooting fish in a barrel.Stop trying to sound intelligent. You clearly aren't.
I know it is hard to manage all of the voices in your head but do try to stay focused. This discussion has nothing to do with Covid. That is a discussion that one of the other dozen voices in your head is engaged in. You are boring me so since you don't have the God given sense to stop on your own. I will put you out of your misery by placing you on ignore. You must be one of the dumba$$es that believe that when a person died in a car crash with massive head trauma, while having Covid, was a Covid death. Keep posting. It's not everyday one gets to read the ramblings of a racist idiot.
You continue proving that you are a coward. Each time you repeat your same tired post you prove you are a dumba$$
