Smokeshows of the Day from Bama, LSU, Ole Miss, State, Auburn, Georgia, etc. would be some high quality viewing.

He kinda gave him credit for taking care of what's important ...with a look of disbelief on his face.

Once you do it for him then anyone who wants time off to go work for a higher paying job for a few weeks will be wanting to do the same. I am sure they have rules that they have to go by andas much as the managersmight want to he can't. Plus in this economy I am sure the rail road companies are doing like everyone else, getting by with the lest amount of employees as possible.

He may not have even asked for it. He might have just said no, and not even told his company about it.

to inject my opinion....
I know most people think that a shot at the NFL is a dream come true and you'd be crazy for not taking it. Well, maybe playing the NFL just isn't high on his priority list. People have different goals in life, and they aren't always driven by money, fame, or the material idea of what success is. Fitz might be one of those rare people who used his athletic ability to actually get an education and then move on.

like this when someone goes against the grain and makes a decision for the long run instead of instant gratification...especially when it involves athletics. Fitz obviously put his family before his own desires to continue to take care of them with his current job. Think about it, those of you with wife, kids etc., would you risk losing your current job that you are happy with to do something else for just a few weeks with the very slim outside chance it may turn into maybe a few more years and then you are out? It would be one thing if he was being offered several million dollars guaranteed.....but odds are, he would be done in a year or two and looking for a way to take care of his family after that. I applaud the guy!

He can always go back to the Train tracks. You would think he would make a nice paycheck for a few weeks and the playoffs.

Two pro-rated weeks of whatever he was offered isn't necessarily a pot of gold up against a steady job with benefits.

he should make the decision based on money. It might not be that important to him.

And most recently in September of this season after a two week stint...

He knew that he was a temporary answer for the Jets. He absolutely made the right choice.

Side note he played for State back in the 90's and was on the Saints scout team. He told me that you get to point that it is a pipe dream to play. It is so difficult to make it in the NFL due to all the talent. He' says sooner or later every whois in thatposition has to make the decision to move on. You have to accept that you are not going to be a NFL player. Maybe Fitzhugh made that decision.</p>

Seems like any person in their right mind who had a shot to play at the NFL would take it. If his family is in bad shape though I can see where he would feel a very strong obligation to them and would want to spend as much time as he could with his pops. He has already lost his sister, I think that was either right before or shortly after he came to Starkville.
