I'm a State fan until I die. If you know anything about higher education in Mississippi though, you know that all 3 of the "big universities" are roughly equal. Sadly, OM is slightly better than State, and State is slightly better than USM, but there's not much difference. I just don't see the point in being condescending ******** and making excuses for another school's success. Sounds like another fan base to me. #smellslikebearshit

OK, I know nothing of Ole Miss's departments, so I can't compare between MSU and Ole Miss. However, I know professors at MSU and USM and know research coming out of both schools in numerous departments and "slightly better" isn't the word I would use to describe MSUvsUSM. MSU is worlds apart from USM. USM is "slightly better" than most community colleges in the state. Hate to burst your bubble.

Edited to add: USM does have Polymer Science though, so there's something to hang your hat on.

And Polymer Science is the ONLY thing they have to hang their hats on research wise. The school funding is set up as such too. Polymer Science gets a gigantic amount of dollars and the rest of the funding to the other departments are tiny. USM higher ups won't admit it, but even they know that Polymer Science is the only thing they have to hang their hats on.<div>
</div><div>They have a decent education program (no better than any other college in the state), and they have a really good arts program.</div>

Mississippi State is superior to USM because we're in the SEC and they're in Conference USA. Ole Miss only gets recruits because they pay them. USM only gets recruits because they can't pass rigorous SEC academic standards and are forced to go to USM. State = good, TSUN = bad. TSUN, TSUN, TSUN. I heart billboards. I heart Mullen, but hate Stansbury. Is that better? Please, anonymous internet board poster, don't ever question my fandom again, b/c it just tears me to pieces.

but never have seen any evidence that it is true. If you'll provide me with some support for your argument, I'll readily concede. I would be MORE than happy to. My point is, I hate that our fan base sounds like a group of sour grapes ******** anytime USM lands a recruit that is even on our radar. Now please, support your argument that MSU academic standards are any tougher than USM standards. I'm waiting.

such as Deandre Brown. Is that an incorrect statement?
...Conference USA and USM require one less math course to enter than does the SEC and Mississippi State. In fact, the Big 12 also requires one less math course.
