I used to hate Griffey Jr. Mostly because He always came across like an ******* to me whenever they interviewed him.

Over the years , I have come to be a fan of him.

I think that is mostly due to believing that he did what he did cleanly.

I also like the way He finished. Lots of guys would just ride out the year with no effort. He came clean and just walked away because he knew it was time. No need to hang on for the rest of the year.

Including 3-2 in World Series against the Yankees- 1926, 1942, and 1964.

Interesting tidbit- the Cardinals threw out Babe Ruth trying to steal second to win their first World Series.

27 World Championships? No. But we're not too shabby either, and the Cardinals have certainly held their own against the Yankees.

Even though I'm a huge Braves fan, I was alway a Griffey Jr. fan.I thought he had the most well rounded game in baseball history. If it weren't for the injuries he suffered with the Reds, he probably would have challenged Aaron's home run record. Every little league kid has the player that got them to want to play a particular position, and he was why I played CF for 13 years. Great talent, and one of thebest left handed swings. Glad to see he's going out now, and not waiting till the seasons over.

Willie Mays was more well rounded than Griffey. I will say that had Junior not had the injuries, he likely has better numbers than Willie Mays, the numbers are very similar.

Mays- 660 HR's, 1903 RBI's, .302 average, 338 stolen bases, 12 Gold Gloves

Griffey, Jr- 630 HR's, 1836 RBI's, .284 average, 184 stolen bases, and 10 Gold Gloves

BUT the best player of all time in my opinion was Babe Ruth. Don't believe me? Check these numbers out:

Ruth- 714 HR's, 2213 RBI's, .342 average, 123 stolen bases, and they didn't have Gold Gloves when Ruth played. His Fielding percentage was .968- pitcher and outfield combined. Which is lower than Griffey- .985 fielding percentage, and Mays- .981 fielding percentage, but Babe Ruth was a pitcher player the outfield. And he did a good job at it- playing the outfield that is. And for my Internet spinning special, Ruth had a fielding percentage of .988 as a pitcher, his natural position.

I have to wonder if the Babe played today if he would be a dual-position DH/OF/closer, because he was a darn good pitcher. He had a career record of 94-46 with a career ERA of 2.28, and then he was 3-0 in the World Series with an ERA of 0.87.

always enjoyed watching him hit and he was a hell of a fielder. not the greatest but one of the better ones to play the game. No Lou Gehrig or anything but damn good

Man it's hard to believe Babe Ruth had that many stolen bases, maybe borrowed bases orfree bases, but with his fat a$$ how did he manage that.
