Nunn has been lighting it up for the Miami Heat this season. Quite the find for Pat Riley and staff. I vaguely remember his time at Illinois prior to his transfer to Oakland. Was curious as to the recollections of others. I'm assuming he was highly rated coming out of high school.

I have no recollection of his time at IL. Don't know why he left, but obviously wasn't happy there. Chose a program to transfer to that liked to run a lot and turn games into high scoring affair (that might have had something to do with it).

Though Oakland was favored to win the Horizon League, they didn't. I had season tickets for Northern KY at the time and followed the league closely that year.

He made it look easy to score in so many different ways. Put up something like 26 a game while being front faced the entire time. His release was super quick (reminded me of how quick Ray Allen's was) and he scored in the lane easily with high arching shots.

If he was in another league, not even necessarily a power conference, just better than the Horizon League, if it was less of a run and gun team, if he was a PG, he might have gotten a more serious look earlier as a pro - Jimmer did.

As a pro he defies logic as a 6'2 SG.

Nunn has a good career at Illinois but got arrested before his senior year for domestic battery and found guilty. . Illinois dismissed him from the team.

That’s one reason why an NBA talent ended up at Oakland. No other Power 5 team wanted him even though he had been a three year starter at a Big Ten school. Averaged 15.5 as a junior.

He was ranked in the top 75 out of high school. From Simeon.

We've followed Nunn since he transferred to Oakland. He was my son's camp counselor, and at one point one of the other kids asked what happened. He gave a straightforward explanation, said he shouldn't have done it and that he was sorry. He and my son have interacted from time to time since then.

He's in the NBA because he worked tremendously hard this past off season and the Heat is known for seeking and rewarding players who work hard.

Nunn and Tyler Herro have been terrific for Miami. They are a fun team to watch. Hoping both will be playing in the Rising Stars game during All-Star weekend.
