National coach of the year award. This is simply amazing to me. According to Wikipedia:

The Clair Bee Coach of the Year Award honors the active men's Division I basketball coach who has made the most significant positive contributions to his sport during the preceding year.

I am in awe...

Here's the article...

Wow. After finishing... what.. .4th in the western division.. bowing out in the first round of the conference tourney..not even making the NIT.. and now preparing for a court date where he is charged of assault against a cab driver?

Damn. If he wins, How did the other guys screw up so bad?

The Clair Bee Coach of the Year Award honors the active men's Division I basketball coach who has made the most significant positive contributions to his sport during the preceding year. The winner should reflect the character and professional qualities of Clair Bee, a Hall of Fame coach who many consider to be the best technical basketball coach in history, and a man who cared deeply about his players' well-being. The Hilton and Bee Awards were created by Chip Hilton Sports and the NCAA Foundation in 1996 as a way to promote positive character in the sport of basketball, a game upon which the legendary Bee had a great impact as a coach, administrator, innovator and teacher.</p>

Yea, that's the part that makes me laugh. Having to fight through the injuries AND the distraction of the "international incident" are difficult tasks. Regardless, the incident was his own doing, and we really didn't accomplish anything too impressive. I think the average expectation for us coming into SEC play was around 3-13, and therefore we overachieved, but not enough for AK to be any sort of national COY finalist.

this is absurd that he could win a "character award" in the midst of being tried for racist hate crimes

AK is clearly a better coach.
Thats right, AK is clearly a better coach than Stans. How many times has AK been to the NCAAs as a head coach?

an awfully serious individual.

no he is not being "charged" with a hate crime. But, what was the first thing everyone said when they saw this. The perception of the public was racist hatred.

Come on now, since when was punching someone, ANYONE, a hate crime....?
