They have contracts with TNT which is owned by CBS. CBS knows that getting them air time, regardless of their knowledge, will drive ratings because they are known sports talk heads. I'm guessing neither of them really enjoy the fact that they're probably given 2-3 weeks to find out as much as possible about college basketball as possible, but they are probably contractually obligated to participate in these shows. This is why TNT stops their Thursday night double-headers during the early weeks of the tournament, because they can make more airing NCAA tournament games. Long story short, they're pretty much contractually obligated to do NCAA games instead of NBA games during this time frame.

Sorry Lite, you may be in the minority here....for pure entertainment, they are tough to beat.

Well I love him when it comes to the NBA, radio interviews, commercials and such, but after watching him talk about Kentucky right after they lost to Indiana, I was grossed out. Ah well, to each their own.

Yup this is exactly right. Barkley talked about it on the Bill Simmons podcast awhile back. Their life is NBA, then they basically have to switch gears and cram to study all these college teams for March Madness within a couple weeks.

I would love to sit in a bar with the TNT NBA 4 (Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, Shaq, and Barkley) and kick back a few. I think it'd be absolutely hilarious.

If you have never seen this E:60 Story (ESPN made a story about a studio person from a rival network) on Ernie Johnson, got to watch it. I had no idea what kind of a person he was. A much better man than I'll ever be.

Those guys know their basketball. Don't always agree with them, but love to listen them say what's on their mind.

I absolutely love that studio crew from TNT/TBS. I would rather hear them all day long over the boring Seth Davis. Barkley has real opinions. They all play well off of each other and know when to be serious and when to be absurd.
