UL is going to be Bellarmine level the next 5 years, I personally don't think in 5 years that they get their mojo back. I think they are Xavier or Butler, I really do.

Mack wants to win. UL is not going to win anything when the next wave of probation hits. You are looking at Bellarmine or Pikeville U. roster. They are going to be terrible for at least next year with no recruits or bad roster. Next year after will be probation. You are looking at 2022 before they are eligible or have a team worthy of NCAA. Mack wants to waste 4 years and then hope for recruits in 22. Not happening. This is going to kill them for 8-10 years, I don't think they ever recover. They aren't UK or Duke, or NC or KU. UL is going to be more Xavier or CIncy then UK.

Why is everyone so adamant on keeping Payne? He obviously isnt winning the recruiting trail, the guy never stands up unless its a timeout, he doesn't look to do much coaching unless the player walks by or sits next to him. Maybe im wrong, but im not sold on him. I think he'd be lousy head coach.

Louisville talking to Payne is simply for PR. They have Butch Beard (wrote an artice in the CJ about this) and Jerry Eaves blasting them about UofL having never even interviewed an African American coach. Interviewing Payne makes them happy and takes that narrative away. Its for show.
So much disrepect toward coach Payne, that's pathetic. For one, we would would hate him for wanting to coach for his Alma Mata?!? Second, any coach welorth his weight in salt would rather be ahead coach than an assistant. Lastly, much of this is due to UofL former players b two specifically, who wanted to see the coaching search opened up to more than one candidate, and to an African American candidate at that. Our fan base looks like rats jumping the ship when we don't want what's best for our coaches, and what's best for our assistant coaches is to move forward with their dreams. We want it with our OAD players, who only help us one year, but we don't for coaches who dedicate many years to our team?!?
Also important to note in this story: Two UK spokesman said no such request was made.

You are crazy if you think you aren't gonna get punished for directing a shoe company to pay a kid, the banner was not lost over that, the ncaa already deemed that you r title game was forfeit before this came out. For UL so they can say "we interviewed a black coach" and for Payne because he'll be doing more of these interviews in the coming years.
I hate this way of thinking, and I don't have anything against Eaves, but it's ridiculous. If a team has a coach in mind, they should be able to go directly to them and offer them the job, without making a show of interviewing others just for the optics. I don't know if we interviewed anyone else before hiring Tubby, but if we didn't, how would that be any different? Doesn't seem like there is a dearth of minority coaches to me.
UL just had a title removed by the NCAA for supplying recruits and players with hookers. Your former coach authorized a $100,000 payment to land a recruit. Not to mention he tried to pay off Karen Sypher to abort his child and marry her off to one of his lackeys. Your former AD and President siphoned money to themselves and their families thru a bogus trust. The got damn lack of self awareness of UL fans is staggering. GTFOH
