Just watched them talk about how in their day you played for your team, no thoughts about transferring. Chuck then talked about how more he was paid more than Wilt and Bill and he can’t even carry their jocks. Sports have definitely changed.

The players haven't changed, parents and the rules have changed that enable this behavior. I have no doubt it would have been the wild west 30 years ago with these rules / options in place. I do think parents have gotten worse over the years. Internet, AAU, travel ball have been big contributors.

I coach and have coached in the upstate for years. 95% of my kids work hard and do the right thing. The 5% that don't, have a parent that enables.

I had to throw one of my best players off the team last year after multiple warnings to the player and parents. When I tossed him, the player was the victim, parents caused a stink with the school district claiming they had no warning. Fortunately I had the receipts. Player manned up and apologized, took responsibility. Parents never did.

My oldest son just committed to a playing a division 1 sport several weeks back. He played multiple sports in high school and played very little travel ball. He hated giving up his weekend. Preferred to work in high school and hang out with friends when he was younger. He did it his way. I took him on his official visits but 100% of the decision was his. He conveyed to me that he wanted to commit but I didn't know until after the fact that he actually committed. Parents need to guide and support but allow their kids to make their own decisions (within reason). I have saved tens of thousands of dollars avoiding AAU and travel ball. We thought he would fall behind, but he didn't. Instead, we opted for legion ball in the upstate (which is free) and is filled with future college athletes. Best part, the kids and parents don't have to give up their weekends.

Legion is coming back in a big way. It has been on the death bed for years but people are finally wising up. We played Orangeburg last season in Orangeburg. I heard they have a nice stadium (similar to Sumter), but i wasn't able to make it last year.

My son's college coach encourages the high school players to play Legion vs travel. He tells them, "we'll find you". Travel is a money grab.

I enjoy Barkley a lot.

Kenny Smith is just a yankee, Tarhole, butthole.
95 percent of Chuck's work is with the NBA which I haven't watched in decades so his opinion doesn't interest me. He can be humorous but sounds like a buffoon when he tries to talk politics like saying he would punch anyone he saw wearing a Trump hat.

One of my favorite Barkley moments ever came on an episode of NBA on TNT in April 2001(not sure if it was called "inside the NBA" back then) it was the last week of the season and the 8 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs was still up for grabs, and the Celtics and Pacers were still trying to get it(Pacers eventually did). The question Ernie Johnson posed that night was "Is Boston a playoff team?" Both them and the Pacers had a losing record at this point. Kenny Smith said what he had to say on the matter(Don't really remember now what he said), THEN THE CAMERA WENT TO CHUCK!

Charles: "Ernie, Boston stinks! I could go out there with four 90 year old guys on Walker's and beat Boston(didn't know at the time Barkley was channeling his inner Moses Malone)! Boston ain't no playoff team!

If you really want a laugh, go on YouTube and pull up the Celebrity Family Feud when the NBA on TNT crew competed against the MLB Network crew. They put Shaq and Barkley next to each other and I was sure Steve Harvey was gonna rupture a kidney he was laughing so hard!

Post 4.

And Orangeburg/South Carolina had/has Dixie Youth, not Little League. You can look up why lol, but I doubt the actual reasons are still shown.
