If only we had made a few more of those shots at the rim. Missed at least 8 that I know of maybe more.

The arkansas game showed what can happen....I knew Ole Miss was going to be a tougher game.

And their coach is probably hungrier than Cal is.

Coach Pope got put in the position of having to go to the Derby with a string of Mules. Give him a chance to recruit some Thoroughbreds. Damn guys, we are expecting a miracle.
I get what you are saying here. I really do. I’m not down on Pope per se. I was expecting a down year. I honestly could give him 3-4 years before big results but a team that gives up like we did the first half isn’t acceptable.

I remember losing by 50 to KU his first season. Was he a beta then? Hell, this game isn’t over.
That team played as hard as they could even in that game.

That’s one reason it was such a blowout.

We didn’t take the air out the ball and try to keep it closer. We just kept playing.

We were out of timeouts and Roy asked Pitino if he wanted him to call a time out. Pitino told Roy to shove his time out up his ***.

Could Robinson just once take someone to the basket after he gets by them initially. Someone promise him the contact won't hurt.

I love Pope but this is just wrong. Pitino's first year we were lacking in talent and had some injuries to boot. But they played their asses off every game.

If this team would play that hard then the lack of ability could be forgiven. I've never seen a UK team not even try. Even Sutton's last year those guys played their best. This team will give effort when their shots are going in. If the shots aren't going in, they turn everything else off too. That's on the coaching staff as much as the players. Put the last 5 guys in if they will just compete. We are not competing. Even if by some miracle we could come back it would be a hollow victory because of the not competing.
Pitinos first team had way way way less talent than this team. Hell, Perry/Noah/Chandler would’ve played 25-30 mins/game on that squad.

Pretty sure that 3 ball at the shot clock buzzer was the dagger if that had missed and we got it to single digits I would have started to believe but now back down 16 its over

I agree but there are some things that are concerning on D that is not a talent issue. It not understanding help side. It is playing zone with all five guys arms down etc.

Terrible possession. Brea just illustrated why I don't like him as a teammate. He wasn't given the pass, and instead of helping to get a teammate open, he just lollipopped around until Jaxson threw up an ill-advised shot.

Well it is clear we need Butler back in the worst way. Without him season pretty much over.

Pitino was implementing his system with guys who would be back. He let them get their *** whipped by continuing to press to make them understand. This team, for the most part ain’t coming back next year.
Pitino lost the double or triple ot game against Zona because he pressed practically the whole game. Simon and Bibby had no problem breaking it and rained down a ton of open threes. But he stubbornly persisted. It appears Pope is much more wary of the press. Perhaps to the other extreme. Maybe because he aint got the hosses.

***** Marnhart needs fired
He needed fired after he hired BCG that should’ve cost him his job. Then we can add a cherry on top the way he let the program get the last 4 years of Cal tenure is just ridiculous! If it wasn’t for Cal being a dumb@$$ and going off talking on his own we’d still be stuck with that moron. Now we have this I tried to give Pope the benefit of the doubt but with the way schools are paying players these days there really is no reason to not being able to put together a competitive good team considering we were supposed to have a surplus of NIL money when he was hired anyway! Don’t even let me get started with the football side of things!!!

I remember that game and remember how they just kept going. Just kept pressing. Man, angry hungry Rick was the absolute best. Even better than angry hungry Cal.
