Kentucky commit Mac Jones hoping for an offer from Texas A&M

Posted this in the another Mac Jones thread, but it applies even more in this one:

Maybe he just wants to visit College Station, maybe that interviewer tried to slant the article, but this last paragraph does not sound like a guy who is shutting down his recruitment and recruiting for UK ( a la Barker a couple years ago)

The Aggies haven’t made Jones an offer, but from where he’s sitting, it’s a matter of “when,” not “if.”

“They haven’t really talked to me about it,” Jones told 247Sports. “They still have a quarterback committed. We’ve really just been trying to build that relationship. They want me to get out to College Station. If they offer me, I’ll see about setting up a visit out there.”

At the end of the day, he needs to do what he feels is best. Maybe he is committed unless the season falls apart. I think if Stoops & Co perform on the field this fall, decommitments from anyone so far (Jones included) are unlikely.

Just another second rate blog site twisting Mac's words to bait the BBN into hits on their website. Mac has always said since the beginning that he will consider any school that offers and try to visit them all if he can. Just because he says that he would visit if they offer in no way means that he's "hoping" for an offer

I don't think your guys realize what a mess A&M is right now. I don't know what's going on, but normally you don't have your 1st and 2nd string qbs transfer during the off season unless something isn't right inside the program. Outside the Johnny Football years A&M has fought to stay out of 7th place in the SEC west and could be doing the same this year. I won't be surprised to see UK have a better season than A&M in 16 and them looking for a new coach. Then Tom Herman most likely makes his way to the SEC, Texas has been mentioned as his goal, but I think its either one of the big name teams in Texas.

It's ironic that Mizzou has won the East in football twice and A&M just tied us for the what season basketball title. Never saw that coming. But Grumpy is right, A&M is a mess.

I agree with grumpy.....The trajectory of the Aggie program is much worse than Kentucky. A 6 win season in College Station this year and they will be looking for a new head coach.

A six win season here and we'll be putting up statues and renaming streets. Just struck me as funny, considering our circumstances, and only having fun..

Yeah, Sumlin's seat will get hotter and hotter. As for Herman, he's eventually headed to the NFL.

With the secondary and skill players uk has a 6 win season will be very dissapointing. Teams are going to have a hard time busting chunk plays on these corners.

Not if you have no pass rush, the best corners can't cover if the quarterback has all day to throw. Not to mention why throw if your averaging 5-7 yards a carry, Good secondary is nice but you have to have a pass rush and be able to stop the run consistently. My only hopes for a 6 win season falls on out scoring other teams. Not impressed with the D-line or Linebackers.

I think the pass rush will be much better than last year. Ware Allen Walker Laster give us legit speed on the edge. We did not give up 5 7 ypc last year and the starting front has Sr Miggins Jr meant and Jr elam. We have a very big defensive front this year and will be ok against the run. Nobody shuts down the run game completely in this league.

Lol! You can count on one hand the times UK has been "ok against the run" in the last 40 years. We've got lots of inexperience this year.

As I stated on another thread the other day, Jones is committed to UK until he no longer is.

This is how it is with big-boy recruiting. I admit that as a UK FB fan this takes some getting used to. :grimace:

He seems like a good kid who is enjoying the recruiting process. From his perspective, it's probably flattering that he's got a lot of good options to play football and get a free education at the next level.

IMO he sticks with UK unless we have a dumpster-fire season, and if that happens, we'll have more to worry about than where Jones is getting to play college FB. For the record, I'm predicting 6-6 and hoping for better than that.

I was a little surprised Houston was able to keep him for the 16 season, but stepped up and paid him big for an other 5 program, I can't remember for sure but seemed like 3+mil per year, close to 4. But if Texas or/and A&M come open this year I doubt they can keep him from either of those, especially if they get in a bidding war for him.

You could be right about that, but I think it would be after a successful run,3-5 years, at either of the big Texas schools if one opens up in the next couple years. If not he may look to another bigtime program. Saban is nearing mid 60's, no idea how long he will stay, Bama would take a shot at him, if Bama hired Dabo from Clemson, Clemson would come calling. If SoCal's new coach doesn't work out they could come calling too. I think he needs to have some success at one of the elite programs before he becomes an NFL target, but thats just an opinon.

It is so easy to rile BBN IT is starting to turn into a poor odd cliche.
Nothing alarming, just a kid going through the process.

Well we did not give up 5 7 ypc. So compared to that statement I would say we did pretty well. We where giving up less than 150 ypg last year when Lewis got hurt.

Two five star QBs just disagreed with your post.
Apparently a 5*qb just decommitted from them alone with a couple more. They are a mess right now, and it appears Sumlin has no idea how to slow the slide. Unless Jones is not very smart I wouldn't worry too much about him and A&M and I can't imagine a qb not being pretty smart.

Ever heard the term - coverage sack?
Football is an intriguing game, one position group can make others look good. Not worried about our D at all. Our offense, well, that is still the big question.

Sounds like TAMU has its own Matthew Mitchell, except in a sport that matters. WR Manny Netherly had some interesting quotes in his departure tweet.

How timely. UK Womens BB is losing another player: http://www.kentucky.com/sports/coll...5683062.html#emlnl=Kentucky_Sports_Newsletter

As for A&M, at this point, they just as much a potential target for negative recruiting as we are. Again, I think Jones sticks with UK unless really bad things happen on and off the field with the program.

Guess we'll see if A&M goes all in on Jones now.
Taylor Hamm - TAMU's propaganda minister - says that their Top Target is Kellen Mond, who is committed to Baylor but being recruited very hard by Auburn and Ohio State right now.

If we had half the recruiting base and booster money A&M has I think that would be a fair statement. As it stands, we don't.

Better corners let you play man coverage which allows you to get creative with your blitzes. I want to see more nickel blitzes this year.

It sure seems to be a mess. Seems like last year they were a team divided because of the qb situation they had, now this. Sumlin's name has certainly cooled on the list of hot coaches since Johnny Football left. I think they fight it out for 5th place in the west with State and Auburn this year. Sumlin and Malzahn will be fired if their respective teams end up 7th. Dak bought Mullen a few years. But A&M is a mess right now, I don't see how they can keep this Mooreland guy on staff after last night's work on Twitter.

Martell might kill 2 birds with 1 stone for us....his decommit helps make T A&M less attractive of a destination because of the toxic after effect, and he will likely land at a school that would have targeted Mac Jones in the fall

Somebody is going to make $4+ million to come in last place in the West. NFL teams tank for draft picks. One of those coaches might tank for their buyout.
