You have to wonder what a program like that was thinking.
They panicked after Drew and Hurley turned them down, but despite the fact that Cal had only won one NCAAT game in five years, he was coming back until Arkansas bailed them out.
UK was bringing Cal back because of a $35MM buyout. I would be surprised if Pope can survive this season, but UK did get to the Sweet 16 in his first year.
They thought that the program was larger than the coach.

My prediction is the usual….we have two guys play out of their minds, probably Hubb and Epps….kind of like how Hubb and Matthews did last year. Team as a whole looks really good.
Still will somehow lose in OT due to UK shooting 45-50% from 3 point range as a team.

I swear... we could have a 20 pt halftime lead against UK's C team after Pope got tossed from the game, and they'd bring in the towel boy to shoot 10/12 from 3 to win the game.

If I ever witness a State win in Rupp, I'm not sure my marriage will survive it. We're going and 3/4 of us will be in maroon, but I am expecting disappointment.
Anybody remember the home game we had with them, were down 21-0 off the bat, then took them to OT, only to win the game on a 3-pointer by Mario Austin (I believe it was the only 3 of his college career)? Hopefully memory serves me correctly - it was in the late '90s/early '00s.
Watching Dontae Jones light up Kentucky in the SECT is a top 10 MSU moment for me personally
I certainly hope not. Nothing gels a team faster than playing their first game under an interim coach.
Don't be surprised if they unleash their wrath on MSU and we get run out of the building Saturday night. I've seen situations like this for 50 years. If they lose to MSU in a Saturday night prime time game, KY fans will run him out of town on Sunday.
