I have said this on other threads. My friend has a connection with Lafayette's team. He said from the beginning Landon Young always knew what he wanted. Young and Wills are different personalities. Wills will be slow to cut his list. Wills likes Stoops, but the family is not committed to keep him close to home. They sent Jedrick to camps all over the place because Jedrick wants to develop his college options. It isn't about Kentucky's record. Jedrick won't make his college decision because Kentucky wins or loses the Louisville game. Jedrick is thinking NFL and wants to make the best decision for his future. The best thing going for Kentucky is Stoops guaranteeing Jedrick will be a tackle. Most other schools say Jedrick can come and compete for a tackle job, then coaches will decide his best position. At most of these schools, Jedrick will end up as a guard. If Jedrick is careful and thinks this through, that helps Kentucky. That's why a slow decision doesn't necessarily hurt Kentucky. But signing him will be difficult. If Stoops gets him, don't expect it to happen this summer. And don't bad mouth the kid if he makes another decision.

My four Lexington grandchildren were all athletes at Lafayette. Have kept up with Landon Young progress since I watched him wrestle as a freshman. A positive UK true freshman experience for Landon may help land Jedrick!

That would make sense. It would only be logical to think that Jedrick would place importance on Landon's freshman experience. But from what I hear, I don't think it's going to be much of a factor. I hear Landon and Jedrick get along well, but aren't close. They are different kinds of kids. Jedrick is actually closer to Walker Wood. I believe Jedrick will take all his visits, then pick the program where he feels that his NFL career will be helped the most.

If the NFL is his ultimate goal, as with 99% of these kids who sign D1, if a coach tells you to change position it is probably a good idea to do so IMO. And if all these coaches are saying he will get a chance to compete for a Tackle position that is really all you can ask for.

That may be true, but this is the time for Wills to decide which coaching staff he trusts. Apparently, Wills wants to be a tackle in college, not a guard. He can do that at Kentucky, where he would play on the right side while Landon plays on the left. If he goes somewhere else, he probably plays guard. So I am told. This is a part of many players' decisions. Asim Rose is coming to Kentucky because he wants to be a running back. Matt Elam signed with Kentucky because Stoops assured him that he would remain a defensive tackle, whereas most schools would have redshirted him and moved him to offensive tackle. It is widely believed that Lamar Jackson signed with Louisville because Petrino wanted to play him right away as a quarterback whereas FSU and OSU would have redshirted him and moved him to safety.

I guess soon we will see if keeping Elam at DT was the correct move. I agree Jackson and Teddy came to UofL because they wanted to be QB. Me personally I think Willis is good enough to play Tackle for any D1 team.

Jedrick Wills is good enough to be a right tackle, especially for downhill running teams. But apparently some teams like him better as a power guard, and his build is the reason. Basically, Wills has GAA's build and size. And those teams have 6-6 and 6-7 guys with 4 and 5 star backgrounds playing tackle. Taller tackles with longer arms tend to develop into better pass blockers. You might say Wills has a guard's body and arms, with a tackle's feet. As for Matt Elam, we will never know what position would have been best. We will only know if he can become a good 3-4 nose tackle, because that's where he will play for the next 2 years. People have argued about Elam now for 3 years. I won't re-litigate it here. But this is 1 thing to consider. A lot of players leave high school with a couple years of experience with nutrition and lifting. Apparently Elam began seriously learning about those things when he arrived on campus 2 years ago. So he is still behind most other college football players in physical development. If Elam becomes a good defensive tackle, it is understandable why he would be a late bloomer.
