According to snoops.com I don't know how reliable they are, that Kentucky State has hired former louisville coach John L Smith to be the next football coach

A.k.a. former Arkansas interim head coach who made Joker Phillips quit after less than 3 quarters of football and a score 49-7 up to that point when the rain began.

John L. has had an up and down ride for sure. At one time, he was on top of the world coaching Michigan State for big money. Then he had to file bankruptcy because of some bad real estate deals in Louisville. Now he is coming to Frankfort to coach KSU. He seems like a different kind of guy and has had an unusual career.

This means there really is a Santa Claus. Congratulations to John L. proving that some of us do get third, fourth and fifth chances.

Yeah, you should switch over now.
nope! unlike some idiots, I know football and can watch a team and tell when they aren't very well coached. therefore, I will continue to hang in here until mitch hires a competent coach that isnt in ten foot over his head

I'm glad you have some patience left and are going to hang in there, but I think we need another year or two of Stoops recruiting to make a fair evaluation of the staff, very inexperienced in a lot of cases and most are learning from OJT. I don't doubt that some changes should and will happen. If it turns out they aren't going to get it then by then we will have some talent that will attract a "competent" coach. We have hired a lot of coaches that seemed very competent, until they came here, but there is hope with the new facilities and money being spent------finally.

The point is that Stoops WILL be here next year, and we need to give him the best chance to succeed so he can at least bring in more top talent for someone else to take over.

He may actually do a great job in Frankfort. There is some enthusiasm surrounding the program that a well traveled coach like Smith can easily tap into. His name and experience should really help on the recruiting trail.

I live in Frankfort and haven't even heard this. Actually, if true I think it is pretty cool. I got to get to be buddies with Derrick Ramsey when he was AD here about 13 years ago. I am in banking and I met with him about some sponsorships - first time we met I was tongue-tied and finally pulled a Chris Farley and just started in. "'member that time you caught three touchdowns in the same game when you were with the Patriots? Man...that was awesome." He was very cool - he got this big grin on his face and said "In one half! I held the NFL record for that until a guy named Jerry Rice broke it."
