A I missing something? A&M wants him gone after going no worse than 8-5 over the past 6 years, with one 11-2 season and a win over eventual champion Alabama. They play in the most difficult division in college football and are a more competitive program than they were in the Big 12. 8-5 in that division is at least 10-3 elsewhere.

He inherited an outstanding player and expectations went sky high. And he's not measuring up to them.

Sounds familiar.

Blowing a 34-point lead to an unranked team might have something to do with it.
The 34 pt lead getting blown isn't that surprising if you factor in losing the starting quarterback midway through the game. If the backup can't present a legitimate threat to the opposing defense, the comeback team is on offense the remainder of the game against loose prevent defenses. It's known as the Bauserman Effect.

No way A&M should have that flimsy of a QB situation, similar to how we had the last few years. Sumlin has been there for a while, so that is completely on him.

Didn't they have 3 QBs transfer last year or something? I know it's on the coaches, but if that's the case, it's easier to understand their flimsy situation.

Yeah, there was quite a bit of shake up a few years ago. I think they lost 2 QBs. One is at Oklahoma and not sure where the other went.

If looking only at his records and nothing else, it would seem the 'higher ups' are crazy for wanting to get rid of him.

As Husker fans, we know that a win-loss record isn't everything, but we got a bad rep for firing a 9-win coach. 8 isn't 9, but I agree that he is in one of the toughest divisions in college football, so one shouldn't expect him to finish at the top every year.

I do not know anything about his situation besides his win-loss record, but have heard on the radio today about the regent going off on social media about wanting him fired. Apparently that regent has never really cared for his attitude/personality.

He should be gone. He's located in a great hotbed of talent in Texas and Louisiana. He can cherry pick players from California and Florida. I think he needs a minimum of 10 wins per year there. He hasn't done it so he should be gone.

So he should only lose to Alabama and LSU and beat everyone else on his schedule? C'mon man. I would bet there was about 15-18 P5 teams that won 10 or more last year. Simple math tells you that not everyone that "should" win 10 every year can win 10 every year.

On the money 15 had 10+ and the SEC only had 1.

Ridiculous statement. Maybe 10 or more wins every now and then, but not 10 wins or more EVERY year.

Sumlin doesnt need constant 10 win seasons what he needs is top 25 finishes and over .500 in league games. Only once at A&M has he finished over .500 in league games. He hasnt finished in the top 25 since his 2nd season at A&M.
