Color me impressed with KW so far..definitely would be something worth getting excited about for the future..i do have a question regarding his offense..

do yall think that KW is that damn good, or are these big 12 defenses that damn horrendous? im inlcined to say its a cobination of both, but i cant get a feel for which is better/worse bc they trounce everyone they line up against to the tune of 60 points..dont get me wrong, i think he is excellent and would be great for us, just curious as to what the boards sentiment was..

it will be interesting to see them play fla and a defense that they wont be able to impose their will upon every series..

I'm seeing good throws to people that are wide, wide open. Also saw a bunch of questionable tackling. The DL doesn't get much rush either.

off topic - just saw Frank Beamer catch a haymaker from a player next to him pumping his arm to celebrate.

I think it's a combination of crappy Big 12 defenses, lots of NFL talent for OU and some good coaching. The real question is how much of it is coaching, but I'm pretty darned impressed as well with Wilson's playcalling.

a stat that tony barnhardt threw out in pregame of the seccg that i thought was interesting..

11 SEC defenses are ranked in the top 38 nationally, while 8 Big 12 defenses are ranked 75th or worse...that being said, while i think KW is good, I have a somewhat hard time believing his offense will be nearly as successful in the SEC against the upper echelon of defenses..what say you?</p>

Wilson's offenses have always been potent. Remember, he was at Northwestern before he went to Oklahoma and his Northwestern offenses consistently were the best in the Big 10. He was the offensive coordinator when Northwestern shared the Big 10 title in 2000 and they beat Michigan something like 55-52 that season. I think this guy is a winner.

But, Oklahoma did set the NCAA record for points scored this year. And there's been plenty of teams over the years that played in conferences with bad defenses. So, yeah, I'm very impressed with Wilson and with their offense.

Wilson may very well be the best OC in the country. BUT that doesn't necessarily mean that he would be a good HC. I think we need someone with HC experience. He may be a great playcaller, but what if he brings in another Woody McCorvey? How would his defense be?

I'm just not really wild about having a coordinator be our next HC.

I'm skeptical about it myself, but they gotta start somewhere. His offensive calling is some of the best I've seen. It may not do as good consistently against SEC defenses, but it'll be a hell of alot better than what we had before. But honestly, what better time to see how it'll do than the BCS championship game? Granted, it would have been better put to the test against Alabama's imo.

But I can't lie....I'm impressed. His name definitely should be considered. I think for him though, his assistants are what would be key for him making a name for him self from the door.

but we've taken big time risks two out of our last three coaches, and the one that wasn't a risk, had the NCAA looking at his every move. We need to take as little a risk as possible.

I would be a little more open if we hadn't been burned so many times before.

Plus, I think our team needs a good coach with experience and not someone that's learning on the job for once. We have so many holes and question marks, we need someone that we know can coach our players up.

I just really don't know who I'd say would be THAT much of a higher pick. Honestly I'm not too big in favor for Dooley, Graham, Tubberville, or Bowden. I'm still on the fence with Gill, but he's an experiment too. He did a good job turning a program around that used to be abysmal, and actually got those people into believing they could play for something.

Not even gonna get into Peterson....

But what I'd really like to see is if we could probably land Wilson as an OC and get a decent HC....I don't see that happening at all though... So we're kind of at a point to where we really hae to consider our options and may have to take a shot or too. We really aren't that limited, but no matter how you look at some coaches, even the best ones on our list, there's still some kind of gamble. I'd be willing to give him a shot myself, not saying you aren't, but I think we're at a point to where we kind of have to keep in mind that we might have to take a slight shot towards success.

Maybe the Big 12 defenses are ranked low because they're facing Big 12 offenses. Maybe the SEC defenses are ranked high because they're facing SEC offenses. There's really no way to know.

State, UT, Vandy, and Auburn would have been awful offenses in any conference. Maybe not as awful as they looked in the SEC, but still awful.

But Oklahoma's offense is incredible and would have been in this conference too. If that guy interviews well and shows some p.r. aptitude, it would be a good hire for you.
