Agree 1000%, but they're not psuedo pro, they are full on pro. Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, etc. Those are professional sports teams, full stop. The fact that you require your players to go to classes doesn't change the fact that they're professional athletes. I have to take legal classes not to get disbarred, that doesn't make me a student-lawyer...

Intramurals or D2 / D3 are now the purest form of what college football was supposed to be. Wish they had some inter-school games between the best actual non-scholarship students at major universities.
I want a rule where the coach has to be a student and they can’t coach more than 4 years.
And the refs can't get paid more than $30 per game.
Ehh they are pseudo pro until they unionize and have a league minimum pay scale.. the pros get minimum $50k a game and full benefits after a period of service.. the schools are still bound by title ix as well.. nfl franchises dont have to pay equal salaries to womens teams..
You don't have to have a union to be a professional. 80% of workers don't have a union. Your point about minimum and benefits are why they SHOULD have a union but it doesn't make them not professional, any more than a barista at a non-union Starbucks location is less of a professional than one at a unionized location. The XFL players didn't have a union.

Interestingly, NFL players receive tuition reimbursement if they go to college and for some period after they retire. This is paid for by the players union.
Ok, it doesn't matter for the point, that NFL players like college players get free college Tho college players get more paid for if they're at an expensive school.

“The players loved him” line is garbage. He had zero control of that team, the locker room, or the classroom. His teams were the most undisciplined groups we’ve seen here.
I’m not a Wilson fan, but let’s not sit here and try to romanticize Montgomery’s time here… it was, for the most part, ***.
Since Graham left, we’ve made 3 major dud hires and they’ve all sucked in their own special ways.

Montgomery’s team lost games in all sorts of creative ways, but at the very least it did seem like we at least had some sort of chance every week. We just ended up disappointed more often than not. Now it just seems hopeless, but I still won’t pull for my team to lose no matter what.
And don’t forget that Graham’s successor did win a championship and meaningful bowl game, something Graham couldn’t do himself no matter how hard he tried.

How come Graham couldn’t win with Graham’s players? He was our only coach with a losing record against UCF. There’s no way he would have beat them twice to win a championship.
As for Blankenship, I hear that his former team is much better now that he’s retired.

Graham did win with Grahams players. Never got that conference championship though.
TU is in as good a shape financially in athletics than they have ever been in. Just this year alone they have received over $40 million in donations specifically earmarked for athletics. Money isn’t going to be a block.
All this to say…the guy is gone. I would think Justin Moore already has a short list that likely consists of some former Aggies. I would all but guarantee that Justin isn’t hitching his career wagon to KW.
Graham's players were light years ahead of anything we've had since. Charles Clay, Demaris Johnson, Curnelius Arnick, G.J. Kinne. There's no one on the roster nearly that good.
As the local ABC anchor I would hope he did his research before putting it out there. Do you know otherwise?
Edited to add: OK, I just spent (wasted) 20-30 minutes looking it up! It looks like Eckert is correct. It’s rare to lose by 30+ points today and it was much rarer decades ago.
The most 30+ point losses in ANY single season in TU football history I could find is 4. Wilson’s team tied that last season. BTW, Burns lost 5 total games by 30+ during his horrible 2-23 record in 2 seasons as our coach. I would still rank Burns last, but Wilson hasn’t been much better so far.

You are correct…channel 8 is a total fraud and I would take anything I hear out of that outlet with a grain of salt.
I didn’t notice him today, but he’s usually on the sideline carrying his own camera equipment.

Some will say that two years isn’t enough time, but this AD needs to send the message that we do mean business and won’t put up with less than mediocre performance.
Two years is plenty of time for someone who shouldn't have been hired to start.
