Kick off education

Somebody please educate me why kick offs are not kicked into the end zone when the kicker can easily kick it there?

If you are referring to high school there are not that many kickers that can do that consistently. Few can but a lot of times they have to kick it more on a line and if it doesn’t get to end zone you can out kick your coverage so they worry more about hang time. In high school if you are lucky enough to have a kicker you feel can every time then they probably would.

Back when we had one 2015-2016 kicker. He was coached to hang it high and to try to drop it between the numbers and the sideline around the 10-5 yard line.
Our coverage quite often tackled the returner before he got to the 20.

Appo’s kickoff scheme is impressive bc routinely they plant the ball so the coverage team has time to swarm the defender thus touchbacks aren’t necessary.
