"It was imperative to not only find great recruiters but great recruiters that knew the conference," Kiffin said in a statement. "To be able to take South Carolina's recruiting coordinator, Mississippi State's recruiting coordinator, Alabama's best recruiter and Auburn's best recruiter over the past 10 years was a great accomplishment for us. Once again, I would like to thank (athletics director) Mike Hamilton, the athletic department and our donors for making this possible."

He didn't make all these coaches move to another team in the conference... they did it.

the funny part will be if Kiffen is out of a job in 3 years and they are begging for jobs .

who couldn't recruit at USC

Kiffin was an excellent OC. His dad is the best DC on the planet, and there will be no shortage of talent in Knoxville in the near future. The only way it doesn't work is for egos to get in the way, or the program to just lack control and have players lack discipline. They will have talent, and they will know how to gameplan.

As of current, Kiffin has this at this disposal @ UT:

1) South Carolina's recruiting coordinator.

2)Mississippi State's recruiting coordinator.

3) Alabama's best recruiter.

4) Auburn's best recruiter over the past 10 years.

5) Big O (not mentioned in the propaganda rant, I don't think).

Yet where does this mighty cabal of recruiting prowess land UT in the current scout.com recruiting ranks?

5 whole spots above lowly Mississippi State.

So, in other words, you have no excuse for not winning 10 games every year.

Get back to me on that.

The staff has been together for less than a month. Tennessee is doing this the only way they can. They are not in a recruiting area that is fertile, and they are selling out to get the best recruiters, and in turn, the best players they can get. The fact that anyone who's witnessed the staff that Kiffen has put together isn't impressed is evidence that the individual making that claims is a pure grade number one +#!#+%%# idiot.

... you little *****.

A coach @ UT shouldn't need 5 of the "best recruiters in the universe" to be a mere 5 spots ahead of Miss. State in the recruiting rankings.

Kiffin should be 30 places ahead of Miss. State in the recruiting rankings without any of his prima donna ******* assistants.

That's my main point, you ignorant idiot.

I'm thinking Kiffin saw what Croom did and did the opposite.

was hire his friends with the thought that recruits would flock to him because he coached under the Bear, had coached in the NFL, and was doing the things "the right way".

Kiffen is doing what Croom should have done considering that he had been away from college for a while. Lane's thinking is "If these guys can get me talent, I know me and my Dad can coach them." I for one, think it will work. As I said before, Tennessee doesn't have a whole lot of talent when compared to the rest of the South. They have gone out of state for years to get the brunt of their talent. They are going to be able to cherry pick what talent there is in Tennessee for the most part because they are Tennessee. So, now he has coaches that have ties to Mississippi (O, Wilson), Memphis (O), Lousiana (O again, and Wilson), Alabama (Whoever he got from Bama and Auburn), and South Carolina (Whoever the guy he got from USC is). O also has recruited Florida pretty well and has ties to California.

I think UT is going to be very, very good in a few years. I also wouldn't be surprised if he backstabs O and makes soemone else his DC once his Dad retires for good.

Like I've said before, who is he hiring (besides his dad), to actually coach these guys?

Maybe they're all good position coaches as well, but I still find it odd how heavily he's gone with the "recruiting" assistants.

That said, I do agree with RHS that coaches at UT have to be more recruiting focused than other coaches because they can probably only afford to have 10-15 in state players on their roster at any given time. The state has no talent, so they have to go elsewhere to get players. Still, I think he's going a little "recruiting-heavy" with his assistants.

to hold this recruiting class against Kiffin. The coaches that have recruited these players for the last 2-3 years have all been fired and Kiffin and Co. have had less than two months to try to develop some kind of relationship with them. If he can somehow pull a top 15-20 class this year, then it will be one of the best recruiting jobs we've seen in Tennessee in a long time (including the top 5 class a couple of years ago.) Almost all of our recruits are from other states and, once the coaches that were recruiting them were fired, they naturally gravitate towards their in-state schools. Kiffin has kept almost all of the recruits that we has committed (minus 2 top rated QB's that he told wouldn't fit his system) and he has gotten us involved with a large number of recruits that wouldn't even give us the time of day when Fulmer was still our coach. Anybody that follows Tennessee recruiting will tell you that they are more than happy with how our coaching staff is doing, considering the position they were in.

ummmm, we are poor msu, just lost our coach and staff, have been ****** for a decade, dont have the money UT has, got drummed by our in state rival, have had a new coach for a month (less time than kiffin) and are "ranked" higher than them in recruiting...again, whats your point? Oh, and our "recruiting coordinator" just went to the same school you are defending.....sure they will be badass on the trail next year, but your excuses are just that for this year because we are ahead of them under worse circumstances....you done?

UT has never had a major issue getting players. Fulmer routinely ended up in the Top 10 provided he signed a large enough class to get there. I always saud that Fulmer did less with more than anyone in the SEC. The whole super recruiter strategy worked for Orgeron at Ole Miss...well maybe not.
