While it is deeply satisfying to see Croom's *** aflame in print, I expect better decorum from supposed legitimate members of the print media.

It's pretty simple. From Veazey's write-up about last Saturday's game:

"The Bulldogs found the end zone on a 10-yard pass from Lee to Arnil Stallworth with 13:57 remaining. On the extra point, Kentucky freshman Matt Roark, who stands 6 feet 6, leaped and blocked Adam Carlson's kick."

"Kentucky (6-3, 2-3 SEC) became bowl-eligible for the third straight season under coach Rich Brooks. Perhaps most importantly for the Wildcats, they rebounded from last week's 58-point loss at Florida, the worst in Brooks' tenure."

From Locke's:

"Because on what basis could one possibly argue that MSU will win any of its last three games?"

"For all the talk from MSU coaches and players about being "this close" on hitting big plays, or needing "just one play" out of eight or 10 to win, or needing a little bit better execution, etc., there remains this one glaring fact: This is a bad football team."

"Yeah, last year is looking more and more like a fluke. But I guess that is from whence players are drawing faith. Because nothing that's happened in 2008 gives reason for hope."

Whether you agree with what he says or not, that's weak journalism. I come here for opinions (and rumors). I read the newspaper for facts. And honestly, outside of about three dozen people on Sixpack, most people would agree.
By the way, everything ISN'T great, and I think bama might just break triple digits on us.

is you don't necessarily disagree with the premise of the article, just the delivery?

good question though. An article, written in that exact same tone, with all the first-person pronouns, defending Croom and saying that we would win all the rest of our games instead of lose all the rest, would be just as bad.

as Godfrey stated in his essay, beat writers are reporters and shouldn't write opinion pieces. It's not sound journalism.

Plus, it was like reading Rounsaville. </p>

From USDA-RD State Director to *** kicked Congressional candidate to being compared to a beat writer. That's a pretty drastic fall from grace. </p>

that I wish we would just abandon this myth of sound journalism. Sound objective journalism is pretty well a modern invention. And about the time it was invented was about the time that everybody breached the concept. There was a time in the is country when the news outlets were unabashedly one-sided. That's not that much different from the way things are now -- it's just they didn't lie about it back then like they do now.

.......a crap what Locke's motives are. If he speaks the truth, which so very rarely is spoken about MSU football in the MS media, then it benefits us. Complaining about why someone wrote such an article is completely beside the point.</p>

is the lengths people will go to find something good in Croom's tenure. I guess if you bury a dime under a bucket of horseshit, some cheap bastard will dig through it to find it.

HE'S SUCH A GOOD MAN!!!!! Well, hell, so is Father John over at Saint Joe's. Let's let him coach.
