The talking heads are saying an accommodation has been reached to allow Davis to return to work so long as she does not interfere with deputy clerks in her office issuing licenses.

This worked out exactly like it should have. Judge was smart to send her to jail rather than fine her and in the end, she was given a very short leash. I'm content with it.

My guess is that she will return to jail shortly for refusing to process the licenses with her name on them. This will take a legislative fix to permit other names on those licenses for her to stay out of jail.

I'm A-OK with that arrangement as well......though she obviously could have agreed to this plan well before the networks and grandstanding Presidential candidates got engaged.

As for for whether or not she's re-elected at some point......and I don't believe she's on the ballot again for some time......she has every right to run every bit as often as her mother did. And if the voters of her county want her to continue in the Clerk's role, they should have the opportunity to prove it.

ROUGHLY 90 MINUTES AFTER MY OP, I'M NOW WONDERING THE LIKELIHOOD
THAT SHE SHOWS UP FOR WORK AND PICKS UP RIGHT WHERE SHE LEFT OFF LAST WEEK........

That would not be smart on her part. She'd end up in jail again and face much deeper consequences. Yeah, she'd be a martyr for the cause, but will have accomplished nothing. Her efforts would be best served through legal tactics.

This is Kentucky's screwup. North Carolina has around 30 judges that refuse to approve same sex marriages and it is working, because legislature moved quickly after the SCOTUS decision to put an alternate solution in place.

The taxpayers of Kentucky should fit the bill so that the state legislature can go to a special session and change the license process, just so this famewhore can keep taking money from the taxpayers and outside dumb dumbs.

It's one thing for a judge to refuse to perform a wedding...people can just go to another judge. This bimbo is making a stand to prevent the county from issuing a license. She even stated that licenses not issued by her were not validated.

Freaking evangelicals used to say Black people were the cursed children of Ham. In the 60s when Blacks won the right to vote it was the County Clerks who stood at the gates to try and turn back time. Didn't work then won't work now, it just seems like they are a majority in the bubble.

Who issues the licenses though? Davis refused to issue licenses to some people. That's disciminatory. Magistrates who choose not to perform any marriage ceremonies is not - they are treating all people who seek to be married the same way.

That's not even relevant. That news article, which incorrectly referenced Tennessee instead of Kentucky, is talking about judges performing/not performing the actual ceremony and not clerks issuing the license.

Bad article, yes. It's not just magistrates, it's all civil servants that are allowed to abstain.

Better article

Again, if a judge doesn't want to perform a marriage, fine, someone else will. This ***** intends to prevent people getting marriage licenses. I'm all for people having opinions, but the minute the opinion of some clerk interferes with peoples lives, then it's beatdown time.

I haven't read anywhere that she intends to stop them all, just that she doesn't want to participate. Granted, I hadn't kept that much up on it.

She said any licenses issued by her office without her signature weren't worth the paper they were printed on. Of course, she is wrong, but her intentions are clear.

Presbyterian, and I don't hang out with them, just pointing out some similarities with their brothers from the past. Kim Davis the new Rosa Parks? lol, George Wallace more like it.
