Kind of fitting to how the game ended.....

Although I'll second guess here and say that if we had brought in Pollerena or Reed, we're going to extra innings.

I have my thought written down in a post before the pitching change was made, so I'll call it a first guess.

Doesn't excuse the hitting. Norris striking out was big. That was a freshman at bat- swung at a pitch in the dirt. He'll probably get a bat on the ball and at least get it to the outfield next year, but that doesn't help us now. He will get it figured out and will be a good player for us. Collins was Collins. I can't really think of anyone that I would pinch hit for him though- which is also part of the problem.

This was a "**** happens" game.

I want to like the guy but he just doesn't have it. Problem is, we have no one to replace him.

I would start either one over Collins. Edited to add: Cohen has to really like Collins. I remember him hitting around .200, if not lower for the first half of his sophomore season, and he still didn't come out of the lineup.

He has played pretty well so far, and he actually is faster than Collins and about the same defensively if not better.

I think Cohen likes him and Brownlee a lot.

We can't just fix one damn thing every year. We don't look like a baseball team. We've been outmanned by every team we've played this year. I've watched damn near every game.

For the first time since Cohen has been here, we have looked like and team and seem to have more chemistry.

What do you mean by, "We've been outmanned by every team we've played this year?" Is that why we have only lost two games?

If you have watched "damn near every game" and have these opinions, I suggest a visit to the eye doctor.

We are a different team this year, that has been obvious from game one.

We look better defensively and also appear to be better from the mound this year. Are bats have also been better than they had last year at this time. I am not saying we are going to be a better hitting team but as of now we are better in almost every aspect of the game compared to last year at this time.

Have we @@%+%+ up running the bases? Yes, that is a problem. That is not our biggest problem right now. Are biggest problem seems to be putting a ball in play with runners on base. We have stranded way too many runners so far this year.

Have we done some things that make me scratch my head? Yeah, bunting the catcher twice in one game is a head scratcher.

Thanks for playing, you massive douche bag.

We just look like a team without power. At least we can run and have some speed. That's usually the last thing to come.

We make contact pretty well- except for that one inning today, and we had 10 hits, but we had to fix the pitching and defense aspect first. I feel like we've done that and we are making progress with the pitching staff.

I don't care what kind of offense our team has, it wasn't going to matter until we got the pitching and the defense fixed first.

The weather hurt both teams on the basepaths today- don't forget that Iowa had at least three runners thrown out as well. I know Jim said we had three outfield assists at least.

...I think that will come. You are right. Had to fix the pitching and defense first. Defense appears solid, and pitching early on looks decent as well, although Busby was not good today.

Our pitching staff has looked better than we have but I am still worried we don't have a solid 3rd starter.

If he does his job and holds them down, the game goes to extra innings. I've been encouraged by Evan Mitchell as the third starter- I actually think we might be OK there. We'll see how his next outing goes. Also, I think Kendall Graveman has pitched pretty well so far- I'm sure he is under consideration as well, and he has SEC experience.

Back to Busby- he is a guy that will be better for us in a year or two. He is just now learning how to pitch- he was a catcher in high school and really only started pitching exclusively last year. I know the coaches really like him, but we really need to bring him along a little more slowly. They've talked about starting Busby, but I think that would be a monumental mistake. He needs to be in the bullpen- and he needs to work on his control- that's what killed him yesterday. He has struggled with that in the scrimmages as well. Busby will be a guy that is drafted though- he throws in the low 90's and he has MLB size. Where he goes in the draft depends on how much he devleops over the next year or two.
