Because of geographical dicriminations in where they sold playoff tickets. Sorry, on a phone so I can't link it, but the guy is a big 49ers fan and wanted the go to the Seattle vs San Fran NFC Championship game, but apparently Seattle only sold tickets to people who's credit card billing was in one of the surrounding states/provinces. I had no idea teams did that.

Rush does this with concerts too. I saw them in New Orleans a couple of years ago. To buy tickets, the address associated with your credit card had to be in Louisiana, Mississippi, or Alabama.

Yep if you had a Tennessee or even a mississippi or Arkansas billing address, the thunder ticket office would not let you buy tickets.

Geography is not a protected class. I don't see how this suit makes it very far. Though I don't know much about the Federal Consumer Fraud Act, I doubt it would apply either.

As others have said, this is pretty common in sporting events. Welcome to capitalism, fella.

I want to agree with you except there are a lot of laws protecting interstate commerce and the NFL is a legal monopoly which comes with certain rules attached. One could argue that RUSH is one of thousands of bands you could go see in any state and buy tickets from anywhere but the NFL is allowed to legally kill all competition which means if they decide to screw you on tickets there is no other option. I think it is a tough case to win but it has some interesting elements.
