I have heard many people (including more than a few coaches) say that only in small schools like 1A and 2A does it make that much difference if you do not have your top star or two in the game. Those people are fools.
Here is an easy example that even a Forrest Gump could probably understand.
The NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl last year entirely because they had Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. It's that simple.
Did coaching help? Certainly - is football a team sport with D and special teams etc.? Of course. However, you could have plugged in any good NFL players into those positions.
However, the only two players that the Bucs HAD to have were Brady and Gronkowski.
Of course, Brady knew it way before the season even began while the Gronk was on a beach somewhere sleeping off another hangover lol.
