Pretty sure targeting is hit to the head and neck area on a defenseless player and that was the definition of what happen. I didn’t say anything about the game. Ashbrook was the better team but was still a dirty hit.
It wasn’t dirty bro. Unintentional. The KM kid didn’t field the ball well and when he went to scramble to get it his head was down . The Ashbrook player saw the ball on the ground and dove in to get it which put him in the path of the KM players head. It was an effort play that had a bad result but it was not intentional.

So it wasn’t a hit on a defenseless player to the neck and head area.

Agreed. Wasn't intentional at all.

Doesn’t have to be intentional to be a targeting call, he hit the guy with his crown of his helmet on a defenseless player in the head or neck area.

It’s still targeting
It was incidental contact. Targeting is when you lead with your crown to a player directly. The KM player didn’t have the ball. He was trying to get possession of the ball and the Ashbrook player dove in to try and recover which resulted in the collision. You really think the way the KM player was moving around that the Ashbrook player timed it perfectly to hit him in the head?? You can’t target movement like that… It was extremely unfortunate but in no way was it targeting nor dirty. I’ve watched the replay 20 times. Maybe you should.

Way to go Ashebrook! The score was a surprise- but keep it up. KM will rebound- hold your heads up.

Ashbrook is really good I will give them that. But we didn’t help ourself out our youth showed when adversity hit they lost their composure. Have to give it to Ashbrook they looked good

“Targeting is an act of taking aim and initiating contact to an opponent above the shoulders with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulders.”
“Taking aim with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulders to initiate contact above the shoulders, which goes beyond making a legal tackle, a legal block or playing the ball, will be prohibited,”

Playing the ball… that part.

Sure was dirty, hit him in the head and neck area on a defenseless player.
I don’t think it was intentional. I think Devin looking around for the ball left him unprotected and the Ashbrook player’s momentum carried him directly into Devin’s head. I believe the Ashbrook player was just trying to make a play on the ball. Our kids did not want to play anymore after this. They checked out.

In the first half something looked off too. Ashbrook is good but it was odd. KM just didn’t look like they have. Maybe it was just one of those nights. It absolutely happens. High school kids. You just never know. Hope the player is ok.

We changed our play calling hand signals the week of this game which slowed us down offensively or confused our own kids on what play we were calling. I believe we did this because we have our former qb on the Ashbrook sideline who knows most of the signals. Our kids were definitely out of sorts at times on what we were running offensively. I also think that Ashbrook’s defensive line got in KJ’s head some. He never looked comfortable after the roughing the passer penalty. Funny thing is that they never sacked KJ but I thought he was hearing footsteps at times.
Ashbrook finished with 228yds total on 27 carries for 196yds and 3/8 passing for 32yds. Over half of that 228 total came from three plays which includes the 76yd run by Martino late in the game. Not the stats you would expect when you score 43 points. Congrats to Ashbrook again. Hopefully we get another shot at them.

Yeah- holding them to 260 yards ain't bad at all. The 43 points is a little tough. You have been very vocal about SP defense being suspect. Maybe the sp defense isn't as suspect as KMs defense? Ya'll still have Crest to look forward to also. Good luck with that.
