Koening made adjustments based on criticism

On the homepage I saw a link to a 24/7 article on Koenig getting our QB's ready. It was a premium article so I could only ready the first part but it said that he opened things up after criticism of the playcalling in the OSU game. Should we expect to see this continue or back to the offense so predictable my 6 year old girl could scheme against it? My only other comment is why did he have to wait until he was lambasted on the message boards to change something? I would think that by early 3rd quarter at the latest in OSU he might have had some inner conversation with himself and come to the decision that maybe running off tackle all day might not be the best strategy with 9 in the box.

According to Deep Koening isn't the problem. He moved the ball calling the

plays at OSU in the first quarter and was relieved of his duties by the Dan/Hev because were not scoring and we see how that went. FreeKoeiningku

He may not be the problem, but if our woes continue I think he will be the one asked to fall on his sword at the end of the season.

/Something better change.

Koenning is the problem. I know it was Alcorn St., but i'd like to see that approach with Dak tomm. No faith in tyler

Isn't Mullen good friends with Chip Kelly?

I thought I saw that somewhere. Surely there is an assistant out there that studied under Kelly that could install a true spread offense at State.

It has just become apparent that there is no way to ever beat the big boys in the SEC without at least somewhat equal talent (not happening) or a gimmick offense.

It wasn't to teach him the spread if memory serves, it was how to practice and play at the pace oregon does.

Everything about our O is Mullens. He calls the majority of the plays, way more input than any other coach on game planning. I expect Les to be out at the end of the year regardless.

Reminds me of a while back our defense was getting its *** handed to it every play, in the same defensive formation. Our D coach at the time said after the game "We didn't have time to change our formation" or some such crap. I am so sick of it.

Message boards were rife with criticism. On the other hand, it seems to me that his boss should have noticed something and related to him that something has to change. I don't know if it will or not. I don't know wt17 is going on to begin with. By the way, I hate 17 basketball and 17 baseball as well.

I still believe that the primary game plan to keep the ball out of OSU's offense's hands was a good idea in theory. Grind it out. The problem is that you have to be more creative or up the tempo (or both) once you get in the redzone and the defense gets the advantage of a shorter field to defend. We have to put pressure on the defense once in the redzone because we just don't have the overall talent to beat most quality SEC defenses straight up.

Yes. They're both from Manchester, New Hampshire. Oregon wanted to interview Mullen for their OC job when he was at Florida, but he declined and recommended Kelly for the job.
