He really likes Antigua. He put his name in the portal. He went back to Illinois. Occam’s Razor says anything other than Cal turning him down is laughably improbable (*although not technically impossible).

I don’t give a damn about the NBA. Guess what? The NBA didn’t want Oscar, Brooks or Toppin. Should we have sent them packing as well?! 🤔
What does that have to do with Kofi not being able to shoot a mid range jumper, shoot free throws or guard smaller quicker players (something Oscar, Brooks and Toppin can do)?

Kofi and Oscar are extremely similar so one is going to have to sit which if you're bringing a guy late to campus after all of the team bonding that can cause a bit of a rift, and if Cal played both at the same time it kind of destroys the whole "become more of a perimeter orientated offense" that Cal wants. Truth is basketball isn't ran through the post anymore. Post guys aren't nearly as valuable as they were 10 years ago so if bringing one in causes a team chemistry issue then I understand why he didn't want Kofi.

Nobody knows.

So basically you get to make up your own story.

I like to believe that Antigua and Coleman promised Underwood they wouldn’t poach anyone from the Illinois team and that Cockburn was not a great fit on this team anyway, so why burn bridges?

But once again, no one really knows.
Iirc this was actually reported, right after they came to UK.

I’m not so sure they can guard guards. Toppin maybe. Oscar isn’t known to be able to shoot all that well, although, I think he can improve. I know Brooks doesn’t shoot the ball that well at all, midrange or whatever.

I'm glad a lot of ppl in here are trying to convince themselves Kofi isn't good at basketball. He's very good. He just didn't come here. It is what it is.

For the record Kofi> Oscar Toppin Ware etc. Kid was an AA for a reason.

Well you’re asking us to prove a negative. Not a legally admissible standard to make an argument.

KSR didn’t put it out but they have proof they knew 4 days before that Kofi was going back to Illinois, and they also are the ones that said Cal just wasn’t interested in adding him.

Every talking head and every fan that follows recruiting say UK passed on Kofi, and neither party has disputed that narrative
Matt has proven over the years to only know what Cal wants him to know. Cal uses him like a puppet so some of his info is good and some is speculation and in a lot of cases he even says that.

As far as neither party disputing anything I highly doubt you will ever see a school or kid announce publicly what happens in recruiting so if their silence is your barometer of how true the speculation is then you should probably find a different way to gauge the truth.

Well Drew was the scoop buster on this one and I can tell you that there’s legitimacy to the story.

This isn’t a narrative Cal put out to soothe his ego, there was a real possibility Kofi could have dawned the blue and white checkershits this year, and it was our camp that didn’t do the work to get him here.

As always, we'll never know. Have heard plenty of people say the usual stuff. Either we decided he wasn't a great fit, or that we didn't think he was likely to come here. Doesn't matter now.
