has been an absolute beast for the Braves. Atlanta has won the last 21 times he's started and he's had a sub 1.00ERA during that stretch. If he'd pitched the first 2 months of the season he'd be the CY Young in the NL this year.

No doubt. Dude has been lights out! As of right now, I'd give him the ball over Verlander, that's how dominant he's been.

Chad Girodo had arguably the best summer for MSU players... if State played tomorrow, would you pitch him?

The Verlander quote is kind of funny.... I'm not sure there's one manager in baseball who'd play Medlen over Verlander right now. Medlen is a great story and he's throwing some great games... but don't get too far ahead of yourself. W

What's next? We going to bring up Jason Heyward as the next Albert Pujols again?

Comparing

what someone has done in a college, summer league to the major leagues is ridiculous, at best. I know he's a evil Atlanta Brave, but you cannot discount how he's pitched this summer. I'm willing to bet that if this were someone from the cardinals, you'd probably have a similar post.

What part of "Medlen is a great story and he's throwing some great games" didn't you get? He's pitching absolutely lights out. No question about it. But if he was on the Detroit Tigers and any human in America was making the pitching decisions... Justin Verlander would get the start.

And since you bring up the Cardinals, if they hold off LA, Philly, Pittsburgh, and Milwaukee, our rotation is set up to let Chris Carpenter get the start. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm completely ok with Carpenter's third start this year being in the one game wild-card playoff.... and I feel that way because Chris Carpenter has proven that he's more than just a ten game stretch of greatness. You pretty much know what you're getting with Carp whenever he takes the mound.

And another point... I don't want to face Medlen. He's been filthy. But I'd rather face Medlen than Verlander any day of the week.

Actually, I won't change my tune at all...

My tune is that you take a proven, year-in year-out, #1 ace over a guy who's had 10 or so quality starts in a row in your elimination game 10 times out of 10. Regardless of the outcome of that game, you put your best players in position to make plays for you when you need them.

did you hear the stat Tim Kurkjin gave out on Mike and Mike? Verlander has thrown 100+ pitches in 82 of his last 83 starts. He's a horse. Insane.

Yea... It's amazing what Verlander is doing...

To pitch at such a high level and be able to have the durability he has is astonishing.

Medlen has been good no doubt about that, but start him over Verlander? No way anybody would do that. As far as the playoffs let's just sit back and watch the Reds win it all!
