These guys have to stay ahead in counts. If it's 1-2 or 0-2 it is an automatic K unless the pitcher is dumb enough to throw something else outside of burying a breaking ball. They can't hit it and can't lay off of it. I get sometimes as a batter you get fooled, but they're making up their minds that they are swinging before the ball leaves the pitchers hand and it's so frustrating. If I'm a pitcher I don't even throw those guys fast balls. I'd make them hit my breaking stuff which they haven't proven at all they can unless it hangs.

I tell my son all the time it's a lot easier to hit with no strikes or one

strike than it is two and you usually are going to see your best pitches early in the count because the pitcher wants to get ahead of you. Simple but true. I would like to see us more aggressive early in the count.

Last nite was especially difficult because the ump was calling that low outside pitch a strike on righties. Poor Stovall batting after the sac bunt looked like he would have swung at a pitch thown in the first base dugout.
