The average fan has been replaced by his woke brigade that follows him around on Twitter. Liberal talk radio with some UK mixed in at this point. This is what Matt always wanted...a chance to dance political for two hours a day and no sports to get in the way...

haha well it’s interesting that you know every single one of his listeners political beliefs. Like I said I don’t listen often, but when I do listen I haven’t hear them talk politics.

Thread got punted here from HOB, i presume.

My stance on MJ is same, he's making or made a significant mistake by backing these divisive lies promulgating through our country; he should've had the intelligence to recognize or the integrity to be a force for good, use his platform for that and reconciliation, not make things worse.

But I stopped listening long ago, would still be a fan and all, found the content entertaining... but anyone who supports this evil nonsense being used to exploit people for ulterior motives gets zero patronage from me and I proactively urge others to follow suit until or if they course correct.

I used to listen to KSR almost everyday, but honestly, I listen to shows like that to escape politics and my everyday life.

Matt feels like he needs to use his platform to advance his political agenda, and I respect that, but I have the right to not listen anymore...

I quit listening probably a year ago.

I don't get the sense of an "agenda" at all from Matt. I know he's on the left side of the aisle and he supports a lot of liberal policy, but in other ways, he's quite centrist. Based on politics alone (I don't want it headed into the typical rhetoric) he reminds me of Clinton.

The guy knows how to run a radio show. This has to be a terrible time for him to try to manufacture content.

not sure about Rush Limbaugh. Haven’t listened to that in probably 20 years and frankly didn’t even know it was still on the air. None of the other political shows I really listen to much but they absolutely have debates. Watch any of the Fox News shows on during the week and it’s constantly having opposing viewpoints on. Are you being serious?

Matt loves to constantly give his opinions and if anyone calls in or wants to disagree he basically talks over them and then changes the subject and says he doesn’t want to get into it. That’s what I find incredibly annoying. I don’t like being preached to. Maybe you do and enjoy the show and that’s fine.
Yeah, I was serious, evidently wrong, but serious. I guess I will have to tune in and see. But as noted above, I have heard Matt entertain callers on his show with different perspectives. Some he gave time to others not so much. But doing a two hour radio show every day when there are virtually no local sports going on, you have to do something to fill the air. I enjoy it when I tune in but do not do so regularly.

Just listened, he did not actually interview Ellen lol.

Of course he likes Ellen, of course he thought she was actually a nice person. He has the same opinion as every other npc has outside of sports journalism. It is always surprising how someone can see right though dbags like Pat Forde and Pete Thamel, but can't see Ellen is an actual demon.

For those who stopped listening 3 years ago but have an opinion about current shows, I'm wondering what you are basing this on.

Most of you don't like him because he is liberal. It has nothing to do with what he does/does not mention on the show. I have listened every day since the beginning and while he makes political comments, he is not breaking down political topics on the show.

For those of you who want X's and O's and depth chart analysis ... you should have probably have figured out by now that is not what KSR is.

KSR is a light-hearted show where facts are optional and topics can be anything. As mentioned previously in this thread, the best shows are when something totally off-topic comes up and it becomes the main theme of the show this day. You sandwich that around a pep rally for big UK games and you have entertainment.

Nobody is forcing you to listen. Maybe a pro-Trump personality who loves depth charts can start a UK show so some of you will be happy.

He dangled his possible "running for senate" as a big part of the show, and he's continually forced politics into his format, all the while knowing that his audience didn't want it, so if that's not an agenda, I don't know what is.

Granted I haven't listened in over a year but at the end of when I did he only cut off people who didn't agree with him and continued to give his views. As many have said it's his show he can do what he wants but it has caused a lot of fans to quit listening not because they don't agree with his political stance just that they listened for other stuff besides politics. I think his ego is such that he would go down with the ship before giving in to pressure from fans turning the dial because they like the show for the sports and craziness not politics.

As a daily listener, I don't hear the political talk that many seem to hear. Sure, he will occasionally tweet something about politics, but on his show, every time a caller begins to say something political, he actually cuts them off so that show does not become about politics. To me, the show is at its best when it gets away from sports talk and goes off topic as I'm not a listener for their sports takes. They get the most feedback from listeners on random topics versus sports topics. Matt has even stated this on the show multiple times recently.

In the end, if you want a sports only show, I'd listen to Leach and while I love Tom as a football broadcaster, his radio show is generally sleep inducing to me. But, people are going to like what they like and that is perfectly fine. If we all liked the same thing, it would be a pretty boring world.

He had an incident where he shared his account for his buddies to share content. All a misunderstanding according to Matt though.
I think he said it was a misunderstanding because he didn't read or care to read the terms of service and sharing accounts but he still has an active account over here thats @MattJonesKSR

I still love KSR from time to time, but it has gotten worse since Trump got into office. The show never spoke about politics(rarely if so) until Matt got TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome). Then he (matt) decided to run against Mitch McConnell and Wrote a book about mitch. Oh, yea this is KYSportsradio... You'd think it was a political show from what little I've discussed here.

Matt does tweet out some great stuff about Kentucky but now since everyone stopped following his Political Twitter he has been forced to tweet non-stop about Politics now on his kysportsradio tag.

It's not the end of the world by any means, and I realize I'm wasting time even writing this post. But, KSR did inspire me alot to start making my own blogs and podcasts for that I respect Matt for that.

I'll tell you one thing though, I didn't tune into the show 6 years ago to listen about Mitch McConnell or follow him on twitter to get updates on politics. I tuned in for the friendly banter and UK Sports that we all love. I really do think the show has lost its way a bit.

From the sports side of things, it is quite amazing that someone who is completely clueless about sports other than what is spoon fed to him from his "sources" and so forth, is as successful as he is.

His liberal politics are well known and quite often he can't get out of his own way in an effort to keep his show from crossing that line....unless it is intentional, which is likely. His senate aspirations were always amusing, given he wasn't qualified to be on an HOA board, much less represent our state in DC.

What "qualifies" someone to hold office in this state/country?

His hatred of Trump made him into a raving lunatic. When you think of TDS you think, Matt Jones the King of Kentucky in his mamas' mind. (sorry Rex)

I've never liked Ellen Degeneres and I don't know why anyone finds her entertaining at all.

Her sitcom and talk show are both objectively terrible.

I honestly don't know any UK fans that still listen to him. I live in the Louisville area and the whole family and most of my friends listened at least a few times a week 5ish years ago. It was common to pull up to a job site and it be playing on the radio with 10ish guys working too... Haven't seen that in years either. I walked into a business with it on the radio more than once but haven't seen that in a while either.

But I listen to almost exclusively podcast anymore so I guess if someone is forced to listen to just radio....

Leftist politics is about tearing down institutions and not bringing things together. It's why black people felt race relations were better before obama was elected. The whole point of socialism is to build division. If people are happy and trading labor and goods freely there are no reasons for socialism.

I don’t live in KY anymore but I used to listen everyday during working hours. I was waning prior to covid with the election nonsense....once covid hit, I had to turn him off. I can imagine how unhinged he’ll become if Trump wins in November...he may finally move to NYC with his female friend. Seems like his progressivism drove off the cliff right around her and the buy off book deal.

I haven't listened to KSR in a few days...did he really have Ellen D on? Why? Is she a CAT fan? Seriously. If I understand it correctly...it's called Kentucky Sports Radio...Hmm...I mean, football season is about to kick off. Again, I haven't listened in a few days.
