Usually he toes the line a bit longer than the fans and I get the position he is in forces him to do so. Coming out and putting it squarely at Mitch and Stoops' feet, finally, is to be commended. For better or worse at times he is the voice of the fan base it seems.

I don't know how as fans we get Mitch out but he has to go. That buyout is pure incompetence. Hindsight is 20/20 but it wasn't even a widely accepted decision then. It was a completely unnecessary gamble.

The same man who "thoroughly vetted Billy Gillespie," let Petrino go back to Louisville and Mike Leach to Washington State and will undoubtedly not go after Art Briles or Jim Tressel, who tabbed Joker Phillips as coach in waiting, who had to be forced by the powers that be behind the scenes to hire Calipari, who promised John Cohen and Rich Brooks after big win seasons significant facilities upgrades and then failed to deliver them.

Who would give Mark Stoops a $12 million buyout after 5 wins you ask? That man is who.

He actually surprised me with his comments today. Credit where credit is due. Unfortunately MB's contract was irresponsibly extended to 2022. Not sure what can be done at this point.

Can anyone summarize what he said? I didn't get to listen to the show.
Short version is he said it's not the fans because we show up like no other fan base for a loser besides maybe the Cubs and Browns. It's not fscilities because they were better than a lot of the country and are now on par with the big boys. And it's not money because of the SEC contracts etc. The only things left are coaching and the administration, and so we have to look long and hard at Stoops and Barnhart.

The Stoops comments I'm not surprised at, he had to after that performance today. But he has always been extremely reticent to call out Mitch and he did it. Finally.

Jones basically said that Stoops will need to go this year without a miraculous turnaround. Said he never thought he'd say that this year, but it's true. Said the $12 million buyout was ill conceived, but they'll have to find a way to pay it this year with the way things are going.

Good for Matt for saying something. His voice does carry for UK athletics but I'll hold off the grand parade for him for his comments.

This is the same guy who just a few weeks ago ripped on the fans for not being postive enough. KSR wrote an article stating that the fans saying we were going to go 4-8 or worst were basically idiots. All summer long he blamed all the problems on Shannon Dawson. So while it's great he said it, it's almost like Welcome to the Party Pal.

I ripped him in another lengthy post last week so please don't assume I'm in the KSR pumper camp. In fact that's why I started this thread. It was about damn time they got on board.

What was the story he shared at the end? He said he'd never told it on the radio, but I didn't tune in until it was over.

After he came out against Petrino, a mutual friend tried to setup a meeting with him to win him over. Said Petrino wanted the job badly.

Reps for Bobby Petrino contacted Matt for a sit down to try to get him on board with UK hiring Petrino because Matt was ripping fans who wanted him. They figured his voice was powerful enough to make it palatable to the administration. The administration told him behind closed doors it did t matter what he thought or said about Bobby it wouldn't happen.

Wouldn't hire Schnellenberger....wouldn't hire Leach....wouldn't hire Petrino.....Our administration has repeatedly failed us time and again. How can anyone make excuses for the athletics department.

Naturally, Jones didn't even bother to meet with the guy, though. Wouldn't have mattered anyway with pious Mitch at the helm, but would've been interesting knowing where Petrino was coming from

It would have, but what ticks me off is Matt's liberal politics have him supporting Hillary who's stood by Bill and his cheating ways this whole time in order to broker more power for herself and further her own career. Yet he is inexplicably opposed to Bobby Petrino on a moral basis. Go figure that one out Big Blue Nation. Whatever your politics may be it's clearly a hypocritical viewpoint.

Matt also ripped the oc pretty bad, and said that's why you should listen to the night shows because you never kn what you might hear. He did say he was going to meet with BP but that he was told by higher ups to not waste his time meeting with BP that it wasn't going to happen. So Matt said he wasn't going to waste his time.

Especially if you consider the democratic liberal polices that contributed to the economic crisis in Eastern Kentucky. Which is where Matt is from.
