Hubbard and Murphy combined for 40 points. Cam is scoring about 3 points per game ever since he was put on the SixPack basketball Mount Rushmore. We can’t win if only two guys are scoring. Kugal is key to the team. If he’s playing poorly, we will struggle.

RJ, Nwoko, SJ Jr, Claudell, Kugel were 4/28 for 15 pts, 2 assists, 5 turnovers.
I’m dead serious - they could’ve taken those 28 shots from half court and would make more than 4. Put me out there, and I can make more than 4 of 28 from half court. Just give one of my 3 kids a scholarship and I’ll do it. How much did those 4 shots cost us $$$?

Much more than just scholarship money

I like Jans, but his portal recruiting for the last 3 years now has left a lot to be desired.

Ok. Now try to shoot with a D1-SEC athlete guarding you. I'd bet you couldn't put one in from the FT line.

Kugel was good, Harris is a very good pickup, Nwoko as a soph is starting (he was a good get). I wouldn’t blame Jans totally for the portal… Aren’t a lot of stars in college looking to make Starkville their home for a year or two.

6th in team portal ranking.

I appreciate all the stars, but here are the results

2022
Tyler Stevenson - Bust
Jamel Horton - Bust
Eric Reed - Bust
William McNair - Bust
Dashawn Davis - Role player

2023
Jimmy Bell - 5/5 role player
Andrew Tayor - Bust

2024
Riley Kugel - Bipolar 10/3 player
RJ Melendez - Decent role player that has his moments, but disappears in other games
Claudell Harris - An ok starting 2 guard
Michael Nowko - Meh, there's a reason he starts games but rarely finishes. Not particularly good at anything
Kanye Clary - Bust

There's no denying that Jans did a heck of a lot better this year in the portal than in years past, but I think we're starting to see why schools didn't beg some of these guys to stay

Yikes. And 2 years in a row he gets a player that is paid real NIL money and they give us nothing and aren’t even available. There is hope though. I mean Ray buried this program so far below ground that no legitimate player even thought about us. Howland improved things but he was old and wanted the game played so slow I think a lot of guys didn’t want to play that style. Jans is a younger guy and well respected throughout basketball circles. He’s got us into the tourney and now he’s had us ranked the majority of the year. It also helps the SEC is the best conference and gets plenty of attention and coverage. I feel like we could be on the cusp of getting some more talented players in here, guys that could possibly have legit NBA prospects. But we need to retain Jans and if he does happen to leave have Will Wade on speed dial. Honestly I think Wade is a better coach but Jans is pretty close.

I would almost guarantee a beach house and 1 important anatomy part that you could not make more than 4 out of 28 shots from half court.
No disrespect intended

Wade is a better offensive coach. He would have a better record this year with this same team

Agree completely. Everyone wants(or maybe expects) immediate results these days, but if you want to have a program with staying power, I still believe that those things take time to develop. The HS class that Jans has signed for next season is by far his best yet, and if he can hold on to a few key pieces from this year's roster while getting a decent portal class, we may finally have something.

We're all frustrated right now, but the Jans trajectory is still heading upward

So do I get the beach house for good, or just a weekend? And I'll take a kidney, as I'm very likely to need one. Actually, I only think I could make 4, so you might win.

No one is guarding a shot from half court. That's the point. And in case you didn't notice, we miss plenty of uncontested, or barely contested shots. Plenty.
