One of the greatest rags to riches stories in NFL history. When he was a High School senior, Iowa Coach Hayden Fry wouldn't offer him a scholarship, so he went to Northern Iowa. There, he backed up a record-setting QB for four years, and only started his fifth year.

After being cut by the Packers as a rookie, he bagged groceries. Then, he got on as an Arena League QB, then made his way to NFL- Europe. From there, he got what he thought was his dream job backing up Trent Green at St. Louis. When Green went down in preseason, everybody thought the Rams were going to suck yet again. However, what nobody realized was that in Warner, they had a tough, heady quarterback willing to take the hit when he went back to pass, and could hit receivers perfectly.

After leading two crappy franchises to Super Bowls, I say he's a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

and truly one of the most remarkable stories in sports history. I was glad he had one last great run year before last with the Cards. From sacking groceries to the pro football HOF.

And just as humble as he was then. Its been said "good guys finish last." If anyone deserved to defy that statement, it was him.
