Beat Artie Crosby by 1 yard. He had 60 yards in that kick. It didn’t just leak over the bar.
Yeah. He might kick a longer one this year. That one yesterday was a bomb

I can't imagine him nailing a 60 yarder or something to beat Texas or UGA

I see we have a freshman punter from Australia. Looks like 4 more years with punting consistency.

Here is MSU luck. He hits a 56 yarder as time expires to beat one of those teams, but it's nullified by some stupid penalty like illegal formation or a false start. They back him up 5 yards and the next kick hits the cross bar.

Should see him in practice. Its why Lebby had no issue trotting him out there.

I was expecting him to miss an XP after hitting that one. Or miss the 30 yarder right before half. Would’ve been par for the course for our kickers historically. He’s quietly been one of the better ones we’ve had in recent memory, it’s just been exclusively on bad teams. There have been years where we had decent teams that lost multiple close games because our kickers were terrible.

If Ferrie was a few years older, Mike Leach would’ve had back to back 9-win seasons.

About Cosby’s55-yard kick. We were playing Memphis. They had tied their last 2 games. We were tied with Memphis having 4 down with seconds left at their own 38. They went for it. Pass was incomplete & Cosby kicked the 55-yard FG.

I was at that game, but didn't remember the details. I did remember the kick.

Ray Guy had a 61-yard FG. But it was on the road.

I figured he was also their FG kicker. What an athlete that guy was.

Met a guy years ago who had kicked in HS and was on the team at Southern as a defensive player. He was thinking about getting in the mix as a punter. All it took was seeing this freshman named Guy hit a single kick about 75 yards and he gave up his college kicking dreams.

It wasnt just pass incomplete. IIRC, the Memphis State QB was flagged for intentional grounding on the play. Back then, intentional grounding was a 5 yard penalty from the spot of foul, plus loss of down. Thats why we got the ball at the 38 instead of the 50.

I also seem to remember a Memphis State receiver dropping a sure TD pass on 3rd down.

After reading this you are right they had 4th down at midfield. Tried a Hail Mary, but we got to the qb & he threw the ball away.
