This post is a complete contradiction.

You just admitted that humans ruin everything, but then say that the internet and social media could have been good.

No, they couldn’t have. Humans ruin everything because that is human nature. It’s the same reason communism and socialism don’t work. There will always be social stratification. There will always be haves and have nots. There will always be (to quote a favorite film) “d*ks, p**sies, and a**holes”. That’s human nature.

The trouble with socialists is they want to deny human nature right up until the point that millions lose their rights, become political prisoners, starve to death, or all of the above. Hell, now they even want to deny biology.

Nobody is born to be greedy or an *******. That **** is a learned behavior. Just like no one is born to be a saint.

I have no idea what the hell the rest of this **** you’re talking about means.

So you believe it’s possible to have a society free of greedy ********?

The origins of greedy people and ******** is irrelevant. The point is, greedy people and ******** rise to the top, whether we are talking about social media, government, or anything else. It is what it is. That’s why this is Earth and not Heaven.

So, again, neither the internet nor social media could ever have been a net positive. It’s a pipe dream.

Ehh, not the biggest Kyle Tucker fan, but Twitter has been trending towards irrelvant since 2015. Even before Elon bought it, it was losing users like crazy. He's just helped speed up the process.
Twitter has experienced a turbulent year since Elon Musk came close to purchasing the company, which has in turn raised concerns about the number of bots on the platform. Nevertheless, user numbers have continued to rise. In the last reported quarter, the number of global monetizable daily active users (mDAU) on Twitter amounted to 237.8 million users, up from 229 million mDAU in the previous quarter. Overall, this is an increase in mDAU of over 15 percent when compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

You left this part out.

As of the beginning of 2022, men made up 56.4 percent of all Twitter users worldwide. Users between the ages of 25 and 34, who accounted for 38.5 percent of Twitter's global audience, made up the largest audience share. Moreover, one-fifth of users worldwide were between the ages of 35 and 49, indicating that the platform is not so popular amonst younger audiences. In 2021, Generation Z Twitter users in the United States spent more time on other major social networks, such as TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram than they did on Twitter.

We're talking about what apps the kids are using these days. It's not Twitter much anymore. as your source indicated. Twitter is primarily middle-aged and older people, which is what happened to Facebook. Twitter is projected to have significant losses in the next couple of years from advertising, revenue, and user standpoints.

I actually like twitter now because its not being used as a nazi Germany like gestapo of the press to suppress free speech.
  1. Musk can do what he wants with Twitter
  2. Musk literally banned members of NYT and WaPo today
  3. Musk is intentionally using politics to manipulate Americans to shilling for a billionaire who doesn't give 2 ***** about them
  4. I don't use Twitter, but it increasingly feels like some sort of dystopian RPG
  5. Tucker's work for The Athletic has been great. Weird hate from political fanboys, but whatever.

He reinstated the guy who was tracking his jet. He wants a 24 hour delay on posting that kind of stuff. Kinda hard to blame him after a (different) guy used that tracking info to follow & eventually, block his car & climb on the hood, thinking it was Elon, when it was actually his son in the car. Pretty F’d up.
yep
some seem to forget that part of the story

he must be against free speech and/or others having an opinion
first of all, a company doesnt have to do free speech. campaigns or the government can even request something removed. its forcing them to or threatening them if they dont thats against the first amendment.

second, Elon isnt about free speech, if he was he'd not have suspended the guy who tracked his flights. Mind you, any one of us can get on the flight sites and track his plane, as his number has to be recorded into flight paths and logs by law. so for something anyone can do, he suspended him for doing the same thing people did o here with Billy Donovan and Calipari during the last 2 coaching searches. twitter is worse now than it was before, a spoiled billionaire making decisions on his whims where at least twitter before had committees making decisions.

I thought Tucker was a good follow for info, but a bit thin skinned.

I’m guessing this has something to do with one of the stupid wing cults - left or right.

Political tribalism is boring, tbh.

Yes, Kyle is a very good writer. Kyle is always someone that if you disagree with anything he believes or dare to think differently than he does (how dare a person think for themselves) he absolutely hates you and what you stand for. So, no he isn’t a good guy. Good writer yes but not a good guy.

No one even know what left or right is any more. It's more like a sports game. We have "rightists" making memes of "leftists" because "leftists" argued Twitter was a private company. Now the "rightists" sarcastically mock the idea of private ownership. And now the "rightists" feel like they own Twitter and talk about being free of censorship, as Musk continues Dorsey's censorship.

it's all ********

Every new thing starts with kids using it. Then as adults move in the kids leave for the next thing.

Yep. I’m seeing the hypocrisy of those folks in this thread.

In a nutshell:

Person A: Kyle Tucker is terrible because he doesn’t tolerate anyone with a different opinion

Also person A: Kyle Tucker is a liberal and because of that, I hate him.

Ummmm. That’s hypocritical.

Politics are like team team sports and the biggest fans of either team are usually the dumbest. I loathe them both.

I’m no Musk defender… I think he’s FOS on most things. That said, what good is a committee when all it’s members are of the same political bent?

most tolerated his very liberal opinions and never blocked him
he is the one that took his ball and went home because he would not tolerate opinions that differed from his

But tracking someone's flights isn't the same as tracking their flights, following them to a vehicle and attacking the vehicle or terrorizing the people inside of it.

Since some people shoot others, should we ban guns?

take a step back and breathe. its not putting his sons life in danger to track a plane. anyone that had ill intent would be tracking the plane the same way on the same legal sites doing the tracking by legal means and not needing this kid to tweet it.

Elon over reacted and needs a damn committee to make these decisions. other wise you cant have actual freedom when one man is running something and making decisions on his own whims.

I think the argument would be , what good is a committee when Musk will order them to do what he wants anyways since its his company and his alone now.

but at least a committee might be able to talk sense into musk. he's like Trump, a massive hot head

so you are saying his son was not tracked because they doxxed what they thought was Elon
if they would have put my son in danger i would have banned them permanetly

just like when LBJ doxxed the police officer when he saved that young woman's life
do you think that was right

committees do not work
just look at how many conservatives vs liberals were banned before Musk
i guess you had no problem with that

its not doxxing when the flights are recorded and easily viewed on flight tracker sights

you didnt have this point of view when Billy Donovan , Calipari or recently Pelosi was flight tracked ....... why are you having it now?

I would cringe when he posted political opinions on his work account. Time and place. And, I also equally cringed when several conservatives would get up in arms because he expressed a liberal opinion and reply with random inferences about his sexuality.

Back to my point of people who shape all of their interpersonal interactions based solely on political affiliation are boring. I have numerous friends and relatives on both sides of the political spectrum. I find people who only associate exclusively with liberals/conservatives to be simple-minded sheep yearning to belong to a “group.”

Both of those articles were written in the same timeframe that Twitter wasn't going to be in operation a week into Musk's tenure. It might lead one to think they were piling on.

So, to wrap up, Twitter has more traffic than ever, but it will go down someday.

Except that's NOT what Musk is doing as best as I can tell.
Sure, he is banning people for clear violations of their policies. Ie Threats, endangering others, impersonation, child exploitation etc.
But unlike the old regime, he is not censoring people for merely having a differing political opinion, or thoughts on Covid shots etc. I mean, it got so bad that the Soviets would have blushed.
Surely you understand the distinction between those two concepts? IE banning accounts for violations of TOS, and banning people purely for political or ideological beliefs.

Amazing intellectual dishonesty.
